Matthew 7:7, Matthew 17:20, Matthew 21:21, Mark 11:24, John 14:12-14, Matthew 18:19 and James 5:15-16.
"Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them."
"I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." [ref]
This is NOT a yes-no-wait for prayer to be answered.
That is not what Jesus said! There is no 'no' only 'yes'
Was Jesus lieing. If we all pray to cure cancer sincerely and in faith we all know cancer will not disappear but Jesus spoke very clear that it would whats the deal!?

Just wante to let you all know you read and make sooo many excuses for God and Jesus. Stop making excuses for a God ! Either He does not exist or is not the God described in the bible at all!
Peace

So then this means when christians pray and God does not answer them that means christians do not have true faith in him anywhere unless we see a prayer answered.
So show me a prayer answered?

Any prayer said by a faithful servant of Jehovah God that is in accordance with His purposes, will be answered. And as for cancer, Jehovah has given us many, many promises that He will do away with sickness. What Jesus did as far as healing while he was on Earth was just a sample. There will be an earth wide restoration. But everything will happen in Jehovah's due time.

Jesus also gave a model of prayer and how we should pray. We should be praying in the will of the Father and not for our own selfish desires. Even if you think that asking to cure someone is not selfish who are you to consider that? If it is a cancer that grips someone and makes them realize that they are not their savior you want to take that cancer? If it is a cancer that makes people realize that there is a better place where no sickness dwells you want to take away that cancer? Consider this that God is in heaven and we are on earth...I think that He has an all around better view on the scope of things.
Add: I love the answer above mine...how appropriate maybe that future doctor was the cure. Every heard the song "what was i supposed to be" i think its by ray boltz it touches on that...very good.

Well Johnny,
praying is awesome! But God wont always give us everything we want, then there wouldn't be any suffering and then there wouldn't be any hope or compassion or mercy.
You see if everything were perfect right now and God granted us our every wish then this place wouldn't be earth...it'd be a lot like this little place I like to call heaven. So we have to suffer in this life so we can experience the glory and peace in the next. And no Jesus was not lying. And dont give up on praying cause you never ever know when God just might grant you your wish. Praying works, it just has to be about the right thing.

The assumption and context of those promises is that when you ask "in Jesus name" you are asking for something that Jesus would want to happen. Here's the passage that explains it.
1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
You can't get together with a couple of other Christians and ask for God to do something that is against his will. It isn't like if two or three people get together and pray for a million bucks each then God is obligated to send them the check. Use some common sense when you read the Bible and realize that you have to have the whole counsel of God's word in order to get the right understanding of it. You can't pluck some verses out and apply the meaning you want to them.

I have yet another verse in here for you which i hope will share some more light on these wonderful verses you pointed out previously.
Its in John 15-7
Which says ' If you abide in me and I in you, you may ask whatever you will and it shall be done for you.
Our proper asking comes OUT OF our ABIDING in the Lord. Our mind has to be renewed in the word and our hearts unveiled and turned to the Lord. We tend to ask the Lord for things based on our own need and wants and desires. But we need to realize that there is a " will " in the heavens already. As believers need to be those who are abiding in the Lord... living a grafted life in Him. Ones who are familiar with His voice and have a sense of what He wants .. we will know in our spirits how to pray according to what is on the Lord's heart and bypass all the other considerations and thoughts that plague us when we are praying...its always such a battle spiritually since satan hates our prayer. We will know HOW to stand with the Lord for whatever He wants to do. Our prayer should be the kind where the Lord prayers His own will into us and through our mouths. May we all come into this kind of experience as believers because we have a day by day.. moment by moment life of abiding in the Lord... surely if we abide.. we will know right away what will be something that the Lord wants us to stand for or not.
Hope this helps.

Much of what Jesus "said," was for your "spirit" not your "body" and IS where many get confused. Of all Jesus said, logically he ALWAYS stated that as believers we would suffer in the FLESH for his name's sake. Having said that, now do you understand what much of his teachings were meant to give STRENGHT "to?" The body is "finite" the spirit is "infinite or immortal" and if you ask anything FOR the spirit you will receive it. DOUBTERS aways look at ASKING for vain desires of the FLESH and when they are not FULFILLED then they proclaim as you have done that he was a "liar." Jesus did not come on earth to give us immortality as we are in the flesh but immortality in the spirit, in "heaven" not in the flesh on earth. So you won't be so confused, 2 or 3 "doubters" receive NOTHING, 2 or 3 faithful in spirit get ANSWERS. If your faith is WEAK so is your ANSWER from heaven, and can not JUDGE as a liar for what you have little of. Remember, Jesus said this very same thing to his disciples..........

these arethe days in wich where iven a test for freedom of choice,he does not feel as though he has to prove himself thrpugh miracles-God did not create cancer or illness that are terminal and yes he could alter it if that was what meant to be.in end time when God rules the earth again and those who remained loyal and faithful will see the mighty strenght in wich he aquires-dont dont hom not even for a moment-its satan trying to convince you that there is no God,hes manupulative and cunning anything to get you to follow him instead hold fast to your convictions that Jesus ia alive and living in all those who have asked.

Prayers are answered as God sees fit. Sometimes that answer is no. A person can't always get there way sometimes. If I pray for a million dollars in Jesus' name, then it will be God's will and not my own, I accept that because He knows what is best for me.

ROFL.. No, Jesus did not say that directly.
First, he never wrote anything down.
Second, he never dictated to a follower. (In that regard, Muhammad was smarter.)
Third, MMLJ were all written in Greek. So for his words to be written down "directly" from what he said, he would have spoken in Greek. I doubt he spoke to Jews using Greek as the Greeks were not all that popular with the Jews at the time.
Fourth, even if Jesus did speak in Greek, and MMLJ accurate record what he said, they recorded it in Greek. When you translate from one language to another, there are a number of different ways to do it depending upon the knowledge of the translator. And depending upon the translation, there are a number of ways to interpret what was said as no two people use the exact same definitions of any given word. (Look at Bill Clinton and his concept of what "sex" was.)
Lastly, I think you are quoting from the KJV, probably the worst translation ever done. It sounds pretty but as far as accuracy goes, it is a joke in the world of translators.

This is the most real question I've seen on this site. I have asked myself this question before. This is how I understood it. God does not move out of need, but only out of faith. I have seen many people healed when people of faith prayed on their behalf. But if you read this passage closely in context, he was speaking to his disciples who were instructed in how to present themselves as holy men of God by Jesus himself. God honors the faith filled, baptized, holy ghost filled, men that dedicate their lives to His work. And it is for His glory, not ours. Jesus was quoted as saying that the things he said were the words that God gave Him to say. So Jesus could not lie. If you don't see things happening as Jesus said they would, the problem is with us, not God's word. We need to study His word and line our lives up with his instruction and we will see these things happen.
