There are civil laws, moral laws, and ceremonial laws. The only laws that apply to Christians are the moral laws. One such example is the ten commandments. Some other ones include sexual laws, witchcraft and other things that are reinforced in the New Testament as being inherently sinful. Those are God's unchangeable standards. The ceremonial laws pointed forward to Jesus. The civil laws applied to the nation of Israel and were used to maintain order and such. You are right to say that many do not know what the law is. Some try to say that we can now throw away the whole old testament essentially since we are under a new covenant. But the new covenant is simply the old covenant given to a new people. A group of people who do not belong to one country(civil laws), and a group of people who no longer have to wait for the first coming of the Messiah(ceremonial laws and sacrificial system). This may sound like I am pulling this from my butt, but if you read romans and the rest of the new testament, you will start to get an understanding of how the law is to apply to Christians.

As for your question "Do Christians actually know what the law is?" I'd have to reply yes. If you really mean do they abide by it wholeheartedly, no. But who does? The real religious people with good values, morals, and standards do, of course. Pastors, nuns, etc. will follow the law, but I too believe that many religions (not only Christianity) have put themselves above the law and simply follow the laws that they deem necessary and instead manufacture the rest in order to make themselves feel better about things and control the actions of other religions that they are uncomfortable with. Hopefully one day we'll all be able to rise above what society has become and agree upon what is morally and legally proper and then the world might be an easier place. :)

Yes I know what the law is..
I think you are referring to boiling a kid goat in its own mothers milk.
Shellfish is normally high in colesterol, subject to red tide, and generally picks up pollution more than fish ..
I live in a 3rd world country and I guarantee you I don't eat pork here. These people don't have a clue how dangerous pork can be.. The US is different..
These things seem more likely to harm yourself than others, and boiling the kid in its mothers milk seems like a unnatural thing to do..
And I think you will find the woman in the tent thing is that you are not supposed to have relations when your wife has her period.. probably harmful or subject to infections..
How about the one only eating fish with scales?? Do you know that sharks urinate through their skin and most people marinate shark meat in lemon to take the acid smell out of the meat..
God has his reasons even if we don't understand..

Forget the "law", I don't even think I know what the question is! LOL Boiling a goat in milk? Poor little goat. I do however, enjoy a good bowl of sweet and sour pork. It is too hot in Tennessee to wear multiple fabrics....just give me a comfy pair of blue jeans. LOL
As for the Christians' Law. The Bible tells us, the greatest one is LOVE. God Bless you & I hope you find a wise answer to your question, whatever it is.

The TEN COMMANDMENTS that God gave first to the people of Israel embody all of the 613 plus commandments in the Law of God. In the same way, the FOUR COMMANDMENTS that the Church headquarters in Jerusalem gave to the Gentiles during New Testament times embody at least 65-plus commandments (1.See Idolatry section in the Law, 2.See Incest and Other Forbidden Relationship section, 1Cor. 6:9, 13, 16, 18; Deut. 24:1-4; Deut. 22:13-21 4.See Dietary Laws section, Lev. 7:26-27 ) in the 613 commandments of the Torah of Moses.

Curious, why didn't you address the Jews about this since there would be no Messiah to muddy the waters?
How is you know so much about the law and not know Matthew 22: 37-40?
36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'[b] 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[c] 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
This is what ALL the Law hang on. How does eating shellfish have anything to do with this?
9About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray. 10He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance. 11He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. 12It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds of the air. 13Then a voice told him, "Get up, Peter. Kill and eat."
14"Surely not, Lord!" Peter replied. "I have never eaten anything impure or unclean."
15The voice spoke to him a second time, "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean."
16This happened three times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven.
17While Peter was wondering about the meaning of the vision, the men sent by Cornelius found out where Simon's house was and stopped at the gate. 18They called out, asking if Simon who was known as Peter was staying there.
19While Peter was still thinking about the vision, the Spirit said to him, "Simon, three[a] men are looking for you. 20So get up and go downstairs. Do not hesitate to go with them, for I have sent them."

When Jesus came to Earth God created a new covenant. This covenant says to have faith in Him and our sins are forgiven. Christians are not under the law, we are under faith. Through our faith we understand that Jesus fulfilled the law.
Those Jewish laws you state are part of the 613 commands of the Old Testament. If I was a Jew I would say you are correct, but most people are gentiles. The only officials Jewish laws we are to follow are these -
from Acts 15:27-30
27 "Therefore we have sent Judas and Silas, who themselves will also report the same things by word of mouth. 28 "For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay upon you no greater burden than these essentials: 29 that you abstain from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication; if you keep yourselves free from such things, you will do well. Farewell."

Some do, some don't. I happen to know that there was a ceremonial law as well as torte law and religious law in the scripture. Jesus did away with the ceremonial law.

The "laws" that you are referring to is the first 5 books of the Old Testament. The Israelites were given these to live by. Once Jesus offered Himself as our Sacrifice for sins, we are no longer under the "laws" of the Old Testament..we are under "grace". Jesus paid our sin debt by His death.
