I feel that everyone is looking for something--answers, if you will. Even those who criticize everybody else's beliefs are searching for answers.

This is, however, the religion and spirituality section. While I do not like those who blindly criticize others, this site is not devoted to any religion or lack there of.

We all want something beyond what we have. When I was questioning God and denying His existence, I still had that nagging thought in the back of my head:
"What if He does really exist?"

I know every person that claims not to believe in Him has that thought, so they try to convince themselves by using the FAITHFUL as a sounding board.
We must let them live their lives, and make their choices, and decide for themselves what to believe in. It is not our place to question their beliefs, but to answer any question they may have about God.
They will have to face God, one day, and they will know then that He is the Light, and that He is the Father, and He will heal them.
He healed me, my brother, so don't worry about all of these unfaithful people, He will have the last word.

well we are all unfaithful.even believers have some point in time become unfaithful meaning they sometimes only rely on their own personal strength than God and things like that.. only God is faithful coz He still continue to love us... but i do get your point... believers hang around this section mainly because they want to answer and clarify some questions in here while most of unbelievers try to question and sometimes want to prove to the believers that they are right...

I'd love to see some answers. Believe me, I wish there was an omnibenevolent god somewhere out there who would reward the good and punish the bad, and enforce perfect balance, fairness, and justice. But my mind just won't let me believe that my wishful thinking is actually true without some sort of evidence, SOMETHING that would even compel me in the least to find the prospect even REALISTIC, let alone plausible.

Unfortunately, every argument I've ever seen for theism crumbles under even the most minor scrutiny (Sorry guys, but the Bible, your millenia-old collection of superstitions, isn't cutting it in that department (and no other such book does any better)). That, and the fact that theists and creationists have also been caught lying through their teeth on countless occasions, so it's amazing that anyone would look to YOU guys for answers to anything!

Sorry guys, but THAT boy has cried wolf far too many times (end of the world predicted incorrectly over 60 times...)...only a fool would continue to pay attention to him.

not even close. Unless by answers, you mean to the question, "Why are so many people so delusional?" I honestly find it fascinating as a psychological/sociological phenomena. Mainly the fundamentalist point of view, i get liberal christianity already.

But do you honestly think that is why we're here? ever heard of intellectual curiousity? OR "know your enemy" for that matter?

I admit that I am curious toward religion. Is that enough for you? I would certainly like to know more about it. That's why I ask questions.

Also, do you see all those questions that start with "Atheists..."?
Those are for us.

Questions and answers. That's what this place is for.

You may find this hard to believe, but we have a hard time finding other people in our communities whose ideas mimic our own. So sometimes its just nice to read posts that we can agree with, all the while we can keep an eye on the advocates of theocracy.

I am not afraid to say that I am looking for answers to what I wish to know. I am however not looking for your answers. I will have my own answers. I only seek to see truth.
