A recent poll indicates that about 90% of senior citizens in a certain town believe in evolution and not special Creation or Intelligent Design. How do you interpret this?

a) The senior citizens are old and jaded; they have had plenty of time to be disillusioned and hateful of God.

b) Great! Shame it wasn't 100%.

10 Years ago, I got married. On the day of my wedding rehersal, my family and friends gathered together at St. Marie's Church in Manchester, NH.
As I walked in the church I witnessed a priest and 3 people in front of the church. One person was screaming and fell to the floor. I am not sure the name of this performance. If I heard it I would remember the name of it. I am looking for the name of what this is and what the real reason they do this? How real is this?
I remember it scared me and I had to go outside. The screaming was ear piercing. I believe it scared me because it was something I never saw before.

If you know please tell me . I hope with what I told you, that someone will be able to understand what I mean. Thanks for your kindness.

Twisting it to his own use?

13 For such false apostles are deceitful workmen, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder: for Satan himself transformeth himself into an angel of light. 15

I'd like to build the world a home
And furnish it with love
Grow apple trees and honey bees
And snow-white turtle doves

Chorus:
I'd like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony
I'd like to hold it in my arms
And keep it company
(That's the song I hear)
I'd like to see the world for once
(Let the world sing today)
All standing hand in hand
And hear them echo through the hills
For peace throughout the land
That's the song I hear
(That's the song I hear)
Let the world sing today
(Let the whole wide world keep singing)
A song of peace that echoes on
And never goes away

(Repeat 1st stanza and Chorus)

Put your hand in my hand
Let's begin today
Put your hand in my hand
Help me find a way

I am not religeous, but have friends who are catholic, christian, JW, mormon. I do know some of each religeon since I have spoken with them about it and I do realize that some are bound to spead the word of jesus by coming around door to door.

I wont go into what I believe spiritually, just because I have your attention with this question I still dont find it okay to push my beliefs onto you, but I also dont think its okay for others to do it either.

I am asking this question to get more insight into what others would do, so here is my question:

When you are walking down the street and get solicited by a religeous order to speak about Jesus and read their literature (which is what just happened to me) or someone comes to your door and offers you the same material, what do you say or do? :)

They want me to have an open mind about Jesus and his teachings, but wont give me the same courtesy when speaking about my beliefs.... Hipocritical?

A political opinion, choice of football team, choice of favourite chocolate bar, etc etc, is all completely fair game for discussion. It is completely OK to discuss someone's political affiliation and to defend your own stance. No-one expects you to say "Oh, I respect that. I won't say anything that may offend you" if you say "I'm a Lakers fan" or "I'm a Democrat". Nor would you get insulted and feel hurt or wounded if someone said "You're a Democrat? I don't respect that."

You are expected to be able to defend your stance using references to fact, argument, etc. Also, you'd revise your ideas about an issue if new facts came to light.

So why is religion so completely different?

When I say to someone: "Oh, you're Christian? Well, you have every right to be a Christian, but I don't respect it. All kinds of evidence points to that you're wrong." I don't get a debate, but a histrionic hissy fit about being intolerant and worse than Stalin.

What the hell is the difference? What?

All I ask is that answers be respectful of others and civil.

The following are parts of five answers to one of my questions ("Christians": Aren't you Holier than me if God will let you into Heaven while tossing me into the Lake of Fire).

"I am a sinner and deserve to be cast into hell ... His holy blood covers my sin, and when God looks at me, all He sees is the blood of Christ covering my unholiness."

"I am incapable of being holy at all ... I have lied, cheated, stolen, and broken just about every commandment ... he would have every justification to send me straight to Hell. However, when Jesus died, it's like his blood covered my sins so that God doesn't even see them anymore ... I am still not holy, but I am acceptable to God because Jesus has made me clean again."

Revelation 7 says clearly that 144,000 people will go to heaven. It lists 12 tribes from Israel, and says that from each of these tribes 12,000 will be saved.

Has this passage to be interpreted differentlly or is it true that no Christian from America or other countries will go to heaven?

Jesus said: repent and get baptized! not only Jesus said that but the disciples, Paul, etc. And Romans 10:9, said the you have to "Confess"
We are not the ones who accept Jesus! Instead, he is the one who accepts us!

So, who taught you the doctrine! Read carefully "Doctrine".

Because if you mentioned John 1:12 is not a doctrine, this passage is not talking about salvation and I know people like to used this passage!

With the loss of traditional christian values[not the george bush type or the evagelical right], we are left with a vacuum. Since we are all seekers of spirtual truth what do we fill that void with? Unfortunately the void is being filled with every wacko belief that ever came down the pike. much of it to do with eastern mysticism. But we also have the tradional celtic version of fetish passing for religion-namely witchcraft. the worship of mother earth and everything has a spirit in it-even your computer boo. This belief system attracts a great many of the down and outs, social misfits, and even skilled labour and management, hedonist who are devoid of any sort of morality. This lifestyle is also promoted throught the media-harrypotty as an example and numerous rock groups.

Is it not true that no one gets to Heaven unless they freely choose to accept Jesus? They must do it of their own volition, correct?

Is this not deemed the meritorious deed that alone pleases God?

Is it not this deed by which God makes you holy enough to permit into heaven?

After all, God doesn't let anything into heaven unless it is holy enough for Him, right?

Isn't this the meritorious deed that makes a "Christian" holier than any unbeliever, in the eyes of God?

My high school (in Denmark) has about 1000 students, and recently, they were asked to respond to the question: "Do you believe that the life on earth was caused by evolution and natural selection or created by God?". 87% responded 'evolution' and 13% responded 'God'.

What is your reaction to this?
