My high school (in Denmark) has about 1000 students, and recently, they were asked to respond to the question: "Do you believe that the life on earth was caused by evolution and natural selection or created by God?". 87% responded 'evolution' and 13% responded 'God'.

What is your reaction to this?

Denmark is more educated than the United States.

But then, everyone but Mexico and Saudi Arabia is.

I think the question was poorly worded.

The science of polling is an interesting one. If you word a question differently by only a word or two, the results can change dramatically. I believe if the students were given a 3rd choice (Maybe "other"), the results would come out to be very differently that most people would imagine. This is just an example.

With faith in God waning as people assume they can make it on their own with all the advanced technology and comforts of life, it may nevertheless be a quasi-accurate reflection of high school students who all go to 1 school in Denmark.

Does your school teach both? I studied evolution in school, not because I wanted to, because I had no choice. The one thing that always stood out to me, was the fact, in evolution it said man is always changing.

Well if we were first Apes and later became what we are now over time, why isn't man changing? I prefer to take the account in the Bible and believe I was created in the Image of Christ. You want to believe you came from an animal be my guest.

You failed to say if in the poll both subjects were taught, God versus Evolution. We weren't taught both not as far as a class went. But thank God there a little old lady who came with a program to earn little Testaments by studying scriptures. That was done on breaks, etc. Not forced, our choice. Wasn't shoved down my throat, like evolution was. But God when given both will ultimately win out. Hands down! Guaranteed.

Evolution is one of the God's laws of creation. God respects its laws. Humans do not respect even their laws never mind God's. Therefore children are right. Life on earth is caused by one of the laws of God which is Evolution

These two are not adverse if you think of God as a natural force directing evolution instead of as a story book superman.

High school students are very young. In a few years when they will have gone through some hardships maybe the result will be different.

Main thing is you're thinking about it.
Make your decisions on the best information available & be able to back up your theory.
Personally agree w/ the scientific evidence.
Keep it up.
Best regards

Simple you attend an Atheist dominated school, but as the students are young and without wisdom this can be expected, it would be interesting to take the same poll 20 or 30yrs later.
