"Jesus calls people to the 5 fold ministry, Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors & Teachers. The Gifts of the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues, interpretations, discernment of spirits, prophesying, healing & faith, faith, as recorded in Corinthians. The Holy Spirit is the same spirit and the gifts are different."

I was raised a Southern Baptist and was taught that speaking in tongues was not of God....of course, I was also taught that Mormons, Catholics, JW's, Jews and many other religious denominations are all going to hell.

Speaking in tongues is somewhat Biblical...but, it seems odd to me...If God were to speak to people...wouldn't he do so in a way that everyone could understand...rather than have someone say gibberish, and then need someone else to interpret? Isn't the person speaking in tongues, somewhat drawing attention to themselves, by being a spectacle... rather than drawing attention to God? Your thoughts.

I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.... the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Now, the above Very Very clearly state that one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
There is an incident in John 8:1-11, whereby some Pharisees broght to him an woman who committed adultery and asked him what to do as Moses' law said she should be stoned. Jesus said "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." Hearing this, they felt guilty and one by one left the place leaving Jesus alone. When Jesus saw no one there he asked if nobeody condemned her and she replied no. So he let her go off.

Jesus EXPLICITLY said in Mat 5:17-19 that he came not to break but fulfill the law. He even mentioned that not one jot will pass from the law. Then, why did he allow the adultress to go? Did he not break the law?
Please answer based on the situation above. Based on Mat 5:17-19, did Jesus break the law?

everybody should agree that there is only one god and interestingly, every major religion agrees with this. one god means there must be only one religion and other religions are the deviated from the true religion. true religion is from god, so there will be no scientific errors in the religious books it represents and the case will be exactly opposite to deviated religions. every religion has a concept of life after death which is everlasting, the day of judgement concept, the hell and the heaven. and eveybody knows that only those who follow true religion will be successfull in the life after death. then why shouldn't we search for true religion in this life for our success in the life after death. brothers and sisters we never know when we are going to die, but if we die on practicing true religion we will be by gods will successfull in the life after death.

please reply me..

Question, if Protestantism teaches a belief in the invisible Body of Christ than how come they deny the communion of saints in heaven who also form part of that one Body and can pray for us or intercede in Christ's mediatorship?

Let me ask it another way, if a Christian can pray let us say for other people, other Christians half way round the world in Africa who they've never physically met why therefore is it impossible for another group of Christians (those in heaven now with Jesus) to also pray for their spiritual brothers in Christ here still on earth?

Could someone help me to understand this? I was just talking to my neighbor who is a devout Roman Catholic. She says that the Covenant given to Abraham by God in the Old Testament is still in force today. Meaning that Jews do not need to be coverted. Their covenant, their relationship with God is the same as it has always been. I do not know exactly where I stand on the matter of other faiths requiring conversion, but I still argued a bit with this wonderful and learned neighbor of mine. I asked her if she thought that modern day Christians were actually the true descendants of the Jews, and that they have a new covenant with God through Christ that was always meant to be. She says that there is some scriptural basis for the idea that the Jews still have their covenant with God today. But I thought that no one can be saved without believing in Jesus Christ? If what she says is true, then would it not be true for any other faith? She says 'no' to that. I just don't get it.

I believe in God but have a couple questions for Christians with extensive knowledge of the Bible...

As we know, Africans practiced pagan religions before the introduction of Christianity, in mose cases, by force.

European authority 'invaded' africa and offered the africans education, health and food facilities in exchange for african resources (oil, cocoa, gold).

European religion was more or less forced on the africans to gain control over them.

Slaves who were taken out of africa had their indigenous traditional religions taken from and many were baptized into the european religion (christianity) forcibly.

My question is: How is this (brutality and force) justified under Christian ideology? How is this the will of God?

And why is traditional African religions looked at as Satanic?

THE WASHINGTON TIMES
May 21, 2007
The mother of all lawsuits pitting Episcopalian against Anglican kicks off today in the red-brick confines of Fairfax County Circuit Court.
The case has amassed numerous court filings involving 11 churches, two dozen lawyers, 107 individuals, the 90,000-member Diocese of Virginia, the 2.3 million-member Episcopal Church and the 18.5 million-member Anglican Province of Nigeria.
The Episcopal Church and its Virginia Diocese are suing 11 churches, their clergy and lay leaders for leaving the diocese last winter in order to join the Nigerian province. Since the 2003 consecration of the openly homosexual New Hampshire Bishop V. Gene Robinson, conservatives have been fleeing the denomination.

If you believe in hell may I ask honestly what you believe happens to the spirit or soul after a person dies?

Do you believe that a soul goes directly to heaven or hell after death?

Do you believe there is some holding place that spirits go until judgment day?

Do you believe that spirits hang around to guide loved ones and protect them? Or what?

Please elaborate on your answers.

I'm confused about the whole idea of christianity and sex. Now which is it? Do christians believe that sex is a sin period, which if that's the case then my question is why would it be a sin if it's the only way, up until recently through science, to have a baby? Or do they believe that it is only lustful or sexual thoughts that are sinful, if so then my question is are you supposed to have sex without thinking about it or something? Or do they simply believe that sex before marriage is a sin, if this is the case then I ask why is it so important to be married before having sex, I can understand before having kids, but having sex does not mean you WILL have kids just that you might? Or is it only members of the clergy, holy men, priests, the pope, etc. who are bound from having sex, and if so why is that?

I'm out of room so let me finish of my question in the details below, please read them before answering.
