What are you drawn to in this life?
What do you feel that you must do in your life, before you die?

There's really three aspects to this question:

1) Do you think God is concerned with the small details of your life?
2) Do you think it's appropriate to view prayer as a "means" to get things from God?
3) What does that say about your view of God?

Feel free to answer any or all points, but I'm interested in how other people feel about this. Thanks!

at the time the geneology was only for men. Joseph was reportedly not the biological father of Jesus, so why list the geneology. Technically Jesus did not decend from that bloodline and and thus did not fufil that part of the prophesy in given by Isiah.

Why do we have sin?

Wasn't it possible to create everything perfect WITHOUT sin?
And nothing can exist without God, God creates ALL things, both good and evil (Check the book of Isaiah in chapter 46)

So why does God do this to man? Evil can NEVER be good. Only good is good. Why cause and create evil, if you never had to to have a perfect world?

God must be delusional? Sadistic? Satanistic?

and he talked about how many of us have fallen into worshiping idols without realizing it. Things like money, television, name brand clothes, and expensive cars, while all nice to have, have become more important to many of us than doing things that can bring us closer to God, like studying and worshiping, spreading the gospel, and helping those in need in general. Do you agree with this?

I didn't to start with, but after taking a look at all the material possessions that I have and value so highly, I changed my mind. There are many people who have much less who are just as happy as I am, and I feel like I could learn a thing or two from them.

In yet another disgusting attempt to legitimize the fairy-tale that is "intelligent design", park rangers and BANNED from telling people the truth; that is, the age of the canyon.
Instead, there are plaques explaining that all of this erosion was caused by, get this, the "great flood".
Can you believe this outright ignorance? How is it possible for a country so technologically advanced as the USA, to ignore reality and attribute a geological formation that took millions of years, to a fairy tale story in an outdated book of bronze-age jewish mythology?
I wish this was just a bad joke folks but the story is here;
http://www.skeptic.com/eskeptic/07-01-10.html

Just the thought of that kind of ignorance in this day and age is utterly repugnant. Let alone the fact that the people who are supposed to educate the public about a national park, are being instructed to lie about it.

“How shall we picture the kingdom of God, or by what parable shall we present it? 31 “It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the soil, though it is smaller than all the seeds that are upon the soil, 32 yet when it is sown, it grows up and becomes larger than all the garden plants and forms large branches;

There are many seeds smaller than a mustard seed like orchid seeds some can spawn up to 35 million microscopic seeds per ounce and many trees larger than a mustard tree like the Eucalyptus Regnans one of which grew to 492 feet.

This is either a plain bald face lie by a Man who is supposed to be God and should know everything or an ignorant mistake by a 2000 year old Rabbi who couldn't be expected to know any better.
What do you think?

What is the name of the evolutionary theory that replaced Darwins for almost 30 years? Extra points for identifying the reason Darwinism came back into favor.

What would you say is the most important virtue, characteristic or thing to enable you to truly become all you were destined to be? Seems to be a wide variety of opinion, for example:

"The most eminent virtue is doing simply what we have to do." - Jose Maria Peman

"Courage is not simply one of the virtues, but the form of every virtue at the testing point." - C. S. Lewis

"Fortitude is the guard and support of the other virtues." - John Locke

"In justice is all virtues found in sum" - Aristotle

"Humility is the solid foundation of all virtues." - Kong Fu Zi

What would you say?

A 400-pound gorilla escaped from his enclosure and ran amok in a Rotterdam zoo today, biting one woman, dragging her around, and causing panic among dozens of visitors before he was finally subdued, officials and a witness said.

The Diergaarde Blijdorp zoo was evacuated and the 11-year-old gorilla, named Bokito said 'You're movin' with your uncle and auntie in Bel Air.' I whistled for a cab, and when it came near, The license plate said "Fresh" and it had dice in the mirror. If anything I could say that this cat was rare, But I thought "Nah forget it, Yo home to Bel Air." I pulled up to the house about seven or eight, and I yelled to the cabby "Yo homes, smell ya later." Looking at my kingdom, I was finally there, To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air.

Since this apparently happens all the time, I would think that this 'sacred' language would be well documented. After all, if god is communicating to you through this mystical language, wouldn't you want to speak it all the time? Where can I find a vocabularly list? What are the verb forms? Is there a Berlitz language course I can take?

I'm not sure about this completely. I think that Jews will probably go to Heaven because God made a covenant with them, but I think all other religions will go to Hell if they don't believe.

This may seem unfair, but here is what another Christian wrote:

"Do you believe Satanists will go to Heaven? I've met some very nice, altrustic, generous Satanists in my life...seemingly good people...but why should they go to Heaven when they are worshipping God's enemy? Completely disregarding his law because they would rather glory in their sins? There has to be a balance...God is a just God and because of that justice will be dealt out to those who deserve it."

She makes a very good point with this. If you do not accept Jesus, then you are sending yourself down to Hell.

Agree?

Why do you insist on the King James, which is a fine translation, when it did not exist until 1611? There were several other english translations before it; does that mean that God allowed a bunch of perverse bibles to be translated before he gave us the KJV? On what basis do you hold the KJV up as the standard by which all other bibles are judged?

Nothing in the real world can be proved with absolute certainty. However, high degrees of certainty can be reached. In the case of evolution, we have huge amounts of data from diverse fields. Extensive evidence exists in all of the following different forms (Theobald 2004). Each new piece of evidence tests the rest.
All life shows a fundamental unity in the mechanisms of replication, heritability, catalysis, and metabolism.
Common descent predicts a nested hierarchy pattern, or groups within groups. We see just such an arrangement in a unique, consistent, well-defined hierarchy, the so-called tree of life.
Different lines of evidence give the same arrangement of the tree of life. We get essentially the same results whether we look at morphological, biochemical, or genetic traits.
Fossil animals fit in the same tree of life. We find several cases of transitional forms in the fossil record.

Evil is NOT good.

There is NO reason for evil.

Evil kills, destroys, traps.

Why does God do this if he is so "good"? Man is his playtoy?

The word theory, in the context of science, does not imply uncertainty. It means "a coherent group of general propositions used as principles of explanation for a class of phenomena" (Barnhart 1948). In the case of the theory of evolution, the following are some of the phenomena involved. All are facts:
Life appeared on earth more than two billion years ago;
Life forms have changed and diversified over life's history;
Species are related via common descent from one or a few common ancestors;
Natural selection is a significant factor affecting how species change.
Many other facts are explained by the theory of evolution as well.

The theory of evolution has proved itself in practice. It has useful applications in epidemiology, pest control, drug discovery, and other areas (Bull and Wichman 2001; Eisen and Wu 2002; Searls 2003).
