I am going to try to adopt a religion for a week
test drive it , put myself in someone elses shoes for a while
I may do this regularly .... I may latch on to someone to teach me each week from here
maybe I will learn more about others by doing this
Vinslave left a link in someones question to a Buddhist site , and it looks a great site
www.buddhanet.net
so I think this may be first on my list
anyone else fancy doing the same ?
what do you think about doing something like this ?

Let me toss aside all my readings on science.
Let me toss aside that the APA removed homosexuality from its DSM-IV in 1973.
Let me toss aside all other logic and allow you to explain to me why someone would "choose" to be gay/lesbian.

Did they wake up one morning and say "Gee I want to be a part of the most ostricized group in the world"

You can even tell me these people dont have God...maybe I will buy that for a fraction...but God or no God logically explain to me why someone would make this choice?

Well, most of you Christians (there seem to be many who frequent this site) will say that scientology is made up, so how are you so sure Christianity wasn't made up, just a long long time ago?

I am searching for answers, I am not trying to offend anyone. By Christians I mean conservative Christians, such as members of the Christian Coalition.

Do Christians believe that animal extinction, global warming, depletion of natural resources, pollution, and so on are all part of the end of the world, and Jesus' second coming?

If so, why don't they believe their God is strong enough to destroy the Earth on his own without the help of man?

If not, why don't most Christians support the Green movement (as in anti-global warming, alternative energy sources, conservation efforts)? Why do most conservative Christians think it is such an evil cause?

I have a question. If Adam and Eve would have never sinned, would they have had children through sexual reproduction? or would all people on the earth have been created from the dust of the earth? I wonder this because God told the animals to be fruitful and multiply, but I dont think he told it to Adam and Eve, at least not when he first created them. Also, they didnt desire the other until after they had sinned. Plus, that's when pain in bearing children started. Any Bible scholars who might know the answer to this?

You finally realized the Bible was made up?
I know I was. I just recently realized and admitted, after some research, that the Bible was full of contridictions, fairy tales, and couldn't have been written by anyone other than a handfull of men. And I was really disgusted with the fact that a large fraction of this country lives by it, that I had practiced a religion based on it for years, and had encouraged others to practice it as well.
Did anyone have a similar feeling of disgust? How did you react?

Jesus answered "I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6-7

Mary cannot be mediator for you. You are praying to someone that is not hearing your thoughts because the only way to God is through Jesus. Pray to Him! Ask Jesus for forgivness.

Is there any other reason to pray to someone else?

gay people. Everyone knows that you hate gay people. We all know that the old line about "loving everyone and just trying to show gay people the right path" is just a line to cover up your hate. You use the church as a crutch to justify your hate and for whatever reason, will not admit to it. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see through your lies. I have checked the validity of the anti-gay statistics produces by the church and these so called moral groups(aka church groups) by comparing them to the statistics produces by the U.S. Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, and the Bureau of Justice Statistics. The statistics produced by the church and these moral groups do not match the governments statistics which means the Church and the moral groups lied. Way to break a commandment Christians.

Since there seems to be so many that are against abortion and homosexuality heres something to ponder.

If there was a prenatal test to determine homosexual tendancies in your child and it came back there was a strong disposition for your child to be gay...would you abort?

I was reading through answers in response to a question about bibles in schools, and was shocked to see how many people think they should be allowed.

Why do so many people just not understand that their religion, and this can apply to other faiths as well, is not everyone's religion? If you want to study the bible or whatever book, go to your church or a religion-specific school, not public school. That's not just offensive to others, it's downright ignorant. Why can't those who believe this, just accept that others have beliefs that are just as important to them?

The wierdest agrument I've heard for abortion is, "If I abort the kid, the kid will go to Heaven. Sending someone to Heaven is obviously a good deed, so I should go to Heaven also".
Now, I am not in any way promoting abortion, I'm Catholic in fact, but I find it difficult to provide a logical, rational explanation to combat the postulate above.
Can anybody answer? And please if you will, I'd appreciate a debate in logic rather than a "its wrong because I (or whomever else) say so" kind of answer.
