I am going to try to adopt a religion for a week
test drive it , put myself in someone elses shoes for a while
I may do this regularly .... I may latch on to someone to teach me each week from here
maybe I will learn more about others by doing this
Vinslave left a link in someones question to a Buddhist site , and it looks a great site
www.buddhanet.net
so I think this may be first on my list
anyone else fancy doing the same ?
what do you think about doing something like this ?

This is not only a good way of learning about what beliefs are out there, it is a good exercise in paradigm shifting. I think Peter Carol talks about it in _Liber Null & Psychonaught_, and Robert Anton Wilson talks about it in _Prometheus Rising_. You might want to read those books, as well.

Sounds like a great idea! I'll think I'll start with Judaism. Before I start, though, just how far do I have to go toward this "being a Jew for a week" experiment? I mean, I don't mind not eating dairy products and meat at the same time, but do I really have to... I mean, can I skip the part about... Uh...

All right, I'll out with it. Do I have to go through with the circumcision?

Yes! That sounds like a great idea. I think I might try it too....except it is going to take me a lot longer than a week to really gain an understanding. I'll have to make it a month or so.

Buddhism is definitely a good one to start with. I was working on Jain for a while....so maybe I'll move on to Buddhism.

looking at websites and talking to people are two different things..religion and relationship are two different things..I'm not sure just reading about a religion from a site will give you the full depth of understanding your say your looking for..

I explored a number of different belief systems before deciding my views and beliefs best fit agnosticism. In doing so I know which ones I do not want to do as I have already been there in my walk. Good luck with your path.

A very enlightened decision! I love to learn and what a wonderful way of doin it.
I've found that I often learn from others here anyway.
I for one will be interested in how it goes, especially how some of the other religious people assist you in your quest.

Well done you, good luck :)

I have done something similar...
It is very interesting to learn about
others religions and beliefs...I just wish
more would take the time to do this...
But there are too many here that would
want no part of it...I can't even imagine
having such a closed mind.
