How does one get blessed salt? Do you just ask your parish priest to bless it for you? Do you use regular table salt?

With the times we live in, I think I'd like to have this special sacramental on hand.

The other day, I went to a street fair, and this Scientology dude kept approaching me, trying to hand me a flyer. After his third attempt, I told him that I wasn't going to join the cult. He got all defensive and pissed off, saying it was his religion.

People can be any religion they want, but I don't solicit my religion to strangers in the street. That's why I think it's a cult. What do you think?

Just to cite an example,Japanese shintoism is an aniministic religion which encompasses the belief that all things possess a spirit. The essence of the concept is beautifully if casually portrayed in the children's films of Mizrahi - My Friend Tortoro,Kiki's Delivery Service, etc. I find the concept - the idea that for example a river can have a spirit - to be completely beautiful and enchanting! I don't believe it theologically, but the idea is very, very attractive to me. Ever had this response to another religion or religious belief?

Almost every love movie out there the main actor has had more than one lover. The woman more than one lover. So as they bang around they find one another, and call it love. Then hears the big thing, they get married, by doing this they call it love. I call it about time they stop suffering the lord God, and stop throwing your selfs in hell.

you will find all the biblical proscriptions against incest. A man is forbiden to have sex with his mother, his wifes mother, his sister, his aunt, with an animal, with another man, with a woman on her period, or even his daughter in law. But you know whats missing. His daughter. There is no mention that a man can not have sex with his daughter. Why not? He names everybody else?

"My citing the creation of tension as part of the work of the nonviolent-resister may sound rather shocking. But I must confess that I am not afraid of the word "tension." I have earnestly opposed violent tension, but there is a type of constructive, nonviolent tension which is necessary for growth. Just as Socrates felt that it was necessary to create a tension in the mind so that individuals could rise from the bondage of myths and half-truths to the unfettered realm of creative analysis and objective appraisal, we must we see the need for nonviolent gadflies to create the kind of tension in society that will help men rise from the dark depths of prejudice and racism to the majestic heights of understanding and brotherhood."

What does he mean by "Constructive tension" and how does he define its goal?

why when people ask a simple question on this website do people bring in religon and say things like "you need to find your faith"?
i find it so annoying that even when asking a simple question (whether religious or not) youre inundated with religious propaganda.
not everyone is religious! everyone has a right to theyre own opinion and it shouldnt matter what they believe.
any thoughts?
(oh and if anyone says i "need to find my faith" SCREW YOU! ha ha ha)

I would like to transfer to another university next spring, but I'd like to know what your opinions are regarding an atheist at a christian school? I'm looking at the University of San Francisco, University of Portland and University of Seattle. Would I stick out like a sore thumb, or will this be no big deal?
