The principles of religion include truthfulness, mercy, and self-control. But our leaders are not truthful, not merciful, not self-controlled. It is taken for granted that public leaders will tell so many lies when they campaign, and when they are in office they'll accept bribes and do so many other illegal things in the name of the law. It is taken for granted, and that means the people will also follow this example. They will become untruthful, uncontrolled, and selfish. The four irreligious principles are animal-killing, intoxication, illicit sex, and gambling, and all these things are being endorsed by the government—in the form of slaughterhouses, nightclubs, breweries, gambling casinos.
If the people become real religious, the government will declare emergency. They rather to have animal civilization in order to make them work hard and consume.

By using taxpayers money to propagate the state religion of evolution is the public schools. This teaches kids that they are descended from animals. Also, since God doesn't exist, they are not endowed by Him with certain unalienable rights. The results of this are that the American people, rather than being endowed with rights from their Creator, are granted privileges by their government.
And our concept of what is right and what is wrong is no longer based on Biblical revelations. Rather, it is based on court decisions, legislation and poles :abortion, homosexual "marriage", drugs & c.

Always. Pick your religion and time period. Christians have been particularly effective over the ages at manipulating and subjugating, or extirpating and incarcerating those who choose any other religion, non-religion or simply reject Christianity.
