Why do people assume right away that muslims are terrorists?

people right away assume that all muslims are bad just because of the stupid mistakes of some muslims. so why are people so hateful towar all of the muslims? it just is not fair!

First off, to the asker:
It is a fact that many muslims are terrorists, you look in Iran, Chechnya, Iraq, Afghanistan.
Why? the Cold War.
Plus, i havent heard many Muslims condemning the radicals.

And the media doesn't like make up stuff, some muslims are doing some crazy things and you just gotta accept that.


of course, im not saying all muslims are terrorists, and there are very complex reasons for the ones that are. But don't go with fallacies to counter the unfortunate stereotype.

Same reason Christians are persecuted for their beliefs. Fear and hatred come from misunderstanding. I am a Christian who has learned a little about other religions to understand them and compare them to Christianity. The Koran actually tells Muslims that they should not argue with Christians, that we both worship the same God. Also, many people generalize others into groups they don't belong in. Those who practice Islam are not terrorists if they are truly following their faith. The terrorists are the ones who have twisted Islam into something ugly and hateful. They are like supremicists who have twisted the Koran to fit their own ideas. Part of having religious faith is knowing what your religion is not. The terrorists have lost the meaning of their faith.

I agree with u, it's not right to blame every Muslim for the actions of a few sick individuals. The majority of Muslims are decent law abiding citizens who would never hurt anyone. It's the stupid mental brain washed terrorists that have given this beautiful religion a bad name. People shouldn't believe everything they see/hear and shouldn't blame every Muslim, I'm not blaming every German person for hitlers actions.

It is a wrong generalization. But the way you feel depends on which side of the coin you are on. Religions, in particular Christianity and Islam have been politicized - intra, inter, national and internationally. The problem may never be solved, but you need to live your time. Start to respect people not for their religion, but because they are people too. That's actually the best way to weaken the evil, if you are thinking of a solution.

I don't believe it. I have a lot of Muslim friends. And, I know that the media are in the business of spreading hatred and disinformation.

Skeptic123, where do you get off putting the Communists in with the different groups of people? The Communists killed millions of people, way more that the Nazis. Or do you like Nazis, too?

Because they're ignorant.
I think I've said this a million times, but the word Islam translated to "peace."

Besides that, they're really all the media shows. We don't really get to here from the normal people, just the crazy ones who want to kill every non-Islamic thing that moves.

And "jihad". It's not meant as a violent thing... I heard it's more a personal struggle within oneself, though I'm not sure if I worded that right.

Not sure where you are misinterpreting this from. Generalizations like that are generally wrong. Most logical people know that it is the Fundamentalists in any religion that are the ones that produce the mentality to commit such atrocious acts.
