The bible does not contradict itself.. a reader will find contradictions if he does not understand the context behind what is written in it...
The fact that money is the root of all evil things does not mean money is evil.. Money can be used to do all evil things..
The "root" is not evil but the "use"

The bible definately contradicts itself in many areas. Do a google search, you'll find many references.
Money is not the root of all evil, the LOVE of money is the root of all evil. 1 Timothy 6:10

There are a lot of difficulties in the Bible, but it's adherents are able to explain them all away to their own satisfaction. Some have written whole books on the subject. Unfortunately, their explanations will not satisfy everyone. For instance, they do not satisfy me. I still like the Bible and enjoy reading and studying it, but I am long past being able to accept it as the "infallible Word of God". If it is the word of God, it sure gives some strange ideas and impressions about that Person. Someone said that the idea of the Trinity is not in the Bible, but it sure does look to me like it is, and to me that is one incomprehensible doctrine, as the church teaches and tries to explain it. I have heard all sorts of fancy analogies to try to make it sound sensible. Three strands of hemp wound together to form a rope are not three ropes, but just one. Three filaments in a light bulb produce only one light. God is three different persons yet only one God? My studies have led me to believe the trinity idea goes back to ancient phallic (sex) worship, but I will not go into that in depth here, lest I offend some one.
I won't go into your question about money either, as several people have adequately answered that. And the link provided by the first answerer gives a big wad of apparent contradictions. So maybe that is how I can best sum it up charitably - by saying the Bible is full of "apparent contradictions" & mistakes.

A reliable translation such as the King James Version does NOT contain any contradictions. Many people have claimed to find contradictions but it is almost always a misunderstanding of the Bible or the translation of specific words. God's word has been preserved for nearly 2000 years.

Yes, the Bible is full of contradiction. Look at Matthew and Luke, for example and see when each of them say Jesus died in reference to the passover.
The notion that "money is the root of all evil" is based on a misquote. The original is "The love of money (Cupiditas) is the root of evil."

It says the love of money is the root of all evil. Not money itself.
There are apparent contradictions, but if you study and look at central principles... well they add up. God gave different commands for different circumstances, but he did not change central commands like not committing adultery. The unchanging ones are few.
Sometimes you have to study, ask questions in prayer, and talk to mentors when you read the Bible. It's a very complex set of scripture. The answers aren't always obvious.

You are mistaken, the Bible NO WHERE says that money is the root of all evil. No where! The Bible say, the *LOVE* of money is the root of all evil. Did you catch that? The problem you are having, I believe you have well demonstrated. You are eagerly looking for contradictions and therefore jumping to false conclusions. Please slow down and read more carefully.

Is that the Bible contradicting itself? Do you what it means to contradict YOURSELF? The U.S. government cannot say something that makes the Bible contradict itself. Also the Bible does not say money is the root of all evil, but the love of money.

You really need to ask the question about money separately. I'm curious to know the answers.
Yes, there are many contradictions in the Bible. Remember that it is actually 66 books, not just one. All those different authors, stretched over several centuries, are bound to say some things which are contradictory.
Read it for its poetry and its spirit, not for science or logic.

I recommend Gleason Archer's "Encyclopedia of Bible Difficulties" if you are interested in an intelligent discussion of such. The Bible does not say money is the root of all evil it says the love of money is the root of much evil.
