I believe everyone is psychic, some are just more sensitive to it than others.

We would need to know your definition of psychic ability, wouldn't we?

I think there is something to it, in the sense that some people have an uncanny knack for knowing things they could not know in the ordinary way. And I think it can be developed by training with a knowledgeable elder, but perhaps they have to start with something which is innate.

For myself, although I have been reading Tarot cards for some 35 years, I do not claim any "psychic" ability as such. I think I am moderately insightful, but mostly I have studied the cards extensively, studied books about them, and done an incredible number of readings. Still, when one gets the same card coming up in the same position in three readings in a row, co-incidence does not seem to be an adequate answer.

Some is real, some is not. Some is good, some is not.

My husband has a gift he calls "deja vu". He gets a "funny feeling" when something important is going to happen, and then has to pray about it to find out what it is specifically. It's not an exact science.

Sometimes people have a psychic gift and it's not a good thing. In homoeopathy we learned that sick people can get holes in their auras which makes them more vulnerable to negative paranormal experiences.

Added: In answer to your Q, I think some people are born with a natural ability for it, which can be easily honed through spirituality (that's my hubby). Other people can develop it, although it will never be easy for them to "chill out" and "tune in" (that's me). Still others aquire a "psychic gift" as a result of an illness or "tuning in" to evil (or deceptive) spirits (that's my step-father).

I believe it is real and we all have the ability, it just comes easier to some people. I am a walking, talking, human pregnancy test....I didn't ask for this, and sometimes it is a pain (like when someone in my family doesn't want anyone to ever know they are/were ever pregnant) As I get older, it gets stronger, and I've been able to do this since I was very, very young. Go figure.

Fantasy, delusion, outright lie, depending on who is saying it. But the truth remains that no one has EVER been able to prove ANY degree of psychic power. EVER. Which is why it's not considered a science - anyone who offers proof could win the Nobel Prize and open up a whole new field of science.

Here's where to start. This guy will give you a million bucks for a 5 minute demonstration of psychic ability. http://www.randi.org

EDIT: JGN, that 10% thing is a myth. We use all of our brains.

There has been research about various psychic powers in the 50's, and at some point they were believed to be real and scientifically verified.

Today, however, the vast majority of the scientific world refutes these claims, and repeating the experiments failed to show any evidence of psychic ability.

Those psychic phone lines are fake (my mom applied during one of her phases and they taught them how to work around the people and make them believe that what they say is real when everything is generalized) my mom didn't take the job because she wasn't into giving people false information.
I believe people have psychic abilities but most people keep it to themselves because it is so controversial.

First off anyone who says we don't use all of our brain is not using their brain.

On that answer is another link to another page showing more info.

"Psychic ability" via people who claim to be psychics is a set of predetermined responses that illicit some form of belief from the listener. In other words they say what you want to hear.

Nobody has ever demonstrated psychic abilities in properly controlled scientific studies.
James Randi has a standing offer of $1,000,000 for anybody who can prove psychic abilities. So far, no takers.

Real. People only use 10% of their brain power. How about those who use more? We might have the ability to be psychic.
