I've asked people why they hate/dislike gay people so much and I pretty much get the same excuse "It's against the Bible." This coming from people who, other than that one thing, don't really follow anything else in the Bible, never go to church, never show any inkling of their religion, other than to use it as a convenient excuse for homophobia. This isn't addressed to those who do follow the bible as much as possible, but for those hypocrites out there who use religion/the Bible when it is convenient and then stomp all over it when it doesn't suit their purposes.

I am just looking for some actual stories of phenomonons. Maybe weird coincidences, or something that made you believe you had witnessed a miracle of some sort.

most would say life I suppose...but I think it's death. Without death, what would life be worth? What do you think?

sex is up there in the rankings too though. ;-)

I know it's hard for many of us to imagine our religion being incorrect, but you must accept the premise in order to enjoy the thought experiment:

If God Himself advised you to abandon your religion, whose advice would you put first, God's or your religion's?

(These thought experiments are important for coming to terms with what is most important to us.)

I am pretty sure I believe in god, I pray a lot-every night, and go to church, but sometimes I question whether he's real or not. I hate questioning it because it hurts me to think I might not believe in him, and I am afraid I might go to hell. I just think how the indians had strange beliefs about the gods, and now we laugh at them for that, and I wonder if some day people might laugh at us-because they find out he doesn't exhist. And that is exactly what I mean by ' i question him.' Please help me to know how to have stronger beliefs in him, because I am afraid and ashamed.

It's similar to the traditional "now I lay me down to sleep", but has that particular phase in it about an angel at my head and 2 at my feet. I'm looking to find it to print out for a friend.

Why does the the church seek to disprove the Davinchi Code
if it is not true?

Several times I've heard people in church say that nothing, absolutely nothing, could make them believe that the Bible wasn't true or that Jesus wasn't our savior or that the Church is corrupt, etc.

Think about what such a claim means:

If you experienced some miraculous event that seemed to be of divine origin and that challenged some belief you hold dear, you still wouldn't question your belief.

Do you realize what this says about you and your belief?

A scientific theory is a mathematical description, a logical explanation, or a proven model of the manner of interaction of a set of natural phenomena, capable of predicting future occurrences or observations of the same kind, and capable of being tested through experiment or otherwise falsified through empirical observation. It follows from this that for scientists "theory" and "fact" do not necessarily stand in opposition. For example, it is a fact that an apple dropped on earth has been observed to fall towards the center of the planet, and the theory which explains why the apple behaves so is the current theory of gravitation.

I find it interesting and sad that most "Christians" believe that God, who is deemed as loving and caring in the Bible, punishes humans in a fiery hell. That's not justice, yet the Bible speaks of God as being just. Why do you want to believe in a God that punishes in such a cruel way? Have you even studied the Bible thoroughly to reason that there really is a hell? Have you considered that maybe there isn't a hell? Do you believe everything your preacher tells you rather than God himself through the Bible?

man. Along a path the devoutly faithful man told the other man he was going to heaven. "Well," exclaimed the other, "I am an atheist and I don't believe in God." Not soon after both men came up to a gate, and someone said, "Who goes there." The faithful one said, "It is I who have done the will of God and done all he has asked and I have come to enter heaven." The guard said, "Enter unto yout glory." Then the guard asked the other man who he was. Nervously, the other man said, "I am of the faith of God." to which the guard said, "And which one is that?" The atheist said, "I believe in nothing, which is the faith of god, is it not?" The guard pondered and said, "Well, you see that gate over there in the distance?" That's for all of the faith of nothing. Go there and they will let you in" When the atheist got to the gate, he said, "Is this where I go as I am an atheist." The guard there said,
"Well you've come to the right place. Everyone's allowed in here." As soon as he entered he noticed everyone was just sitting around doing nothing. He asked the guard why everybody was just sitting around, to which the guard replied, "Well, we believe in nothing, we accomplish nothing and we DO nothing. Isn't that what you wanted?" Isn't that the way most people want life? Being part of "nothing?, putting down those who believe in something, especially those of god? Why does it "bother" non-believers so much?
