Corruption of Paul (and Peter). Jesus didn’t die for anyone’s sins, he didn’t believe in sin. The doctrine of vicarious atonement came much later along with the other Jewish/Roman Mythos found in the NT.

I grew out of fairy tales a long time ago...
But since I worked as a church musician for seven years, I'll offer my insight.
Both of your given choices are wrong. It was the will of god (little "g" intentional) that killed killed Jesus. Jesus was sent to the earth for the sole purpose of being a "sacrificial lamb". God knew from the beginning what would happen to Jesus in order to "save" mankind from sin. Jesus knew that there was no other option to save mankind, so he willingly gave up his earthly body, submitting to his father's will.

Aside from the mechanism of death, no one killed Jesus. He willingly laid down His life as a sacrifice to pay the price to redeem fallen man.

Sounds like you have been to ROBOT school.
God sent His son, Jesus, as a gift to mankind--so Jesus could carry the weight of EVERY SIN on His shoulders when He died at Calvary that day.
The people just helped carry out what Jesus KNEW was going to happen, His death on the cross.
It is NOT theory. It is a FACT.

According to the teachings, Jesus gave his life voluntarily. But if you want to be specific, the ones who nailed him to the cross and supervised his death were the Roman Centurions in charge of Crucifixions, by order of Pontius Pilate.
