i dont understand. i hear it mostly from christians on here but im sure it goes for all the faiths. there is no possible way to prove that your religion is right. all the major religions say that thier holy book is the word of god therefore it must be fact, so who is right if their are so many different versions of what god is?

Ok, hold out you hand. Now make a flower grow from your palm. No if we don't have the power to create things spontanously and were the highest beings than were did everything come from?

OK, God conveniently exists outside of time and space (thus escaping all the laws of physics), he picked up some dirt and blew on it, creating a human being. Then he ripped out a piece of this human's body and made another human being.

Why is this easier for people to understand than an idea like Natural Selection?

Did anyone see the abcnews special on a debate with two christians (Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort) and two athiests that was on last night at 11:30 (i think)? I missed it (too late at night) so i watched some clips on the internet and some of the stuff that the Athiests said made me want to cry! They said that Christians only became christians because of fear of hell which was not all true for me! I became a Christian because I needed God. I wanted His love. I wanted forgiveness from my sins.
Kirk Cameron (former actor on Growing Pains) proved some very good points as did Ray Comfort.
I don't really have a question i was just wondering who else saw it and what they thought of it.
here's the link.http://abcnews.go.com/

They are always careful to portray their members as being angelic in their stories, while other non JWs are depicted as callous and uncaring. There are nice, honest people in every religion but that doesn't make all religions the right one, and some of the stories just seem too staged to be true.

Is marriage about two people loving each other or does the state care more about the protection of procreation and care of the next generation. A union between a man and a women is the only way to produce and care for the next generation.

When a man/man or women/women marry is it only about love and if it is only about love what does the government care about love?

Why is it that Xtian preachers in America endorse circumcision? I left the church because of this - don't they read the New Testament? Isn't endorseing Circ in Africa the same as endorseing Islam? I mean isn't this what made Christianity DIFFERENT?

I posted this question in Languages and got 0 answers, so let me try once again in this category.

How similar/different are NT and modern Greek? Can speakers of modern Greek read the original NT easily? By the way, do you know if the original NT the official version of the Greek Orthodox Church, or is there a translation in modern Greek in use?

I am planning to start learning NT Greek, and I was thinking that maybe starting with modern Greek, and then (after a year or so) moving to NT Greek is a good idea? Is the grammar essentially the same? I am not that much concerned with (differences in) vocabulary in both languages (dialects), as I am with learning the grammar first. The thing is, I already have resources to learn modern Greek and plus the additional benefit of being conversational in modern Greek. Or do I better go straight to NT Greek, since that's my ultimate goal?

I realize these are not the brightest bulbs on the basement ceiling, but if you're going to go on and on and on and on after your usual fashion, wouldn't it be intelligent to identify the (I assume) public figure about whom you are currently obsessing? Is this some tv thing? Educated people don't really spend a lot of time there. That's why we call it the boob tube. So,anyway - just to drag you all back in touch with reality - who pray tell exactly is this Kirk Cameron you're all yabbling about suddenly?

We are mostly Christians in the USA so no need of teaching it. We can use the time to pray and teach all the other religions that have smaller followings. It would be fair and balanced that way.

The difference is that since Zeus is not omnipotent and is constrained by the physical dimension, he is easily falsible since we can already prove that there are no gods living on mount olympus and have instantly observable evidence that lightling is caused by completely natural processes. And while God created natural laws and directly intervenes on certain occasions such as the ten plagues, the view of most Christians is that God does not directly intervene in everyday occurences like lightling but allows the natural laws to direct themselves.
