The bibles warns us about graven art in the old testament and the new testament- NOT TO EVEN HAVE IT. Statues that depict Jesus (even though nobody knows what He looks like), staues of Mary (nobody knows what she looks like, and she was just an ordinary woman used in an extra-ordinary way), and others are truly embarassing and shameful to true christianity.
We are all born sinners, but we to take the rosaries, the pictures and statues that depict Jesus, Mary, etc.- and destroy them. All it does is show a lack of faith in Jesus, and is anti-christian.

It seems somehow they don't believe me, and they go off on a tangent and being the quiet person I am, I really don't think I need to defend myself...Am I wrong in feeling this way ?

Some people think my beliefs are wrong, but it doesn't bother me, because I know theirs are wrong. But other people who think my beliefs are wrong, it bothers me. I want them to like me and it bothers me if they think I'm wrong about something. Does this mean that I think they may be right? Or is it just because of conditioning? The ones I want to please the most are the ones who believe most closely what I was raised to believe. But I don't always agree with that anymore.

A psalm of Asaph.
God rises in the divine council, gives judgment in the midst of the gods.
"How long will you judge unjustly and favor the cause of the wicked?
Defend the lowly and fatherless; render justice to the afflicted and needy.Rescue the lowly and poor; deliver them from the hand of the wicked."
The gods neither know nor understand, wandering about in darkness, and all the world's foundations shake.
I declare: "Gods though you be, offspring of the Most High all of you,Yet like any mortal you shall die; like any prince you shall fall."
Arise, O God, judge the earth, for yours are all the nations.

This is interesting, Like Psalms 58, the pagan gods are seen as subordinate divine beings to whom Israel's God had delegated oversight of the foreign countries in the beginning.
So pagans and witches worship these divine beings, which are subject to God, proving God is the Most High!
What do u think?

Science and religion are equally inconclusive in terms of explaining the genesis of our universe, at least as we know it. Proof, you say? Go back to the big bang, a singularity holding all the matter that is now the universe in a point of infinite mass and negligible volume. My Q: what held the singularity? Could the universe have held itself PRIOR TO its own creation? If it was another universe, what held that universe and where did it begin?

Not digging for belief in God necessarily, just playing Devil's advocate here. All I am suggesting is that there's as many unanswerable Qs in science as there is in theology and both require a degree of faith.

religion was created as a way to explain the unexplainable. with the way that science is going, more and more things are able to be explained without the use of religion. do you think there will ever come a day when there is no longer a need for religion, and it no longer exists?

that's my philosophical question for the day

Maybe I'm just having a crisis of faith, but I can't help but think some of the ways we try to bring others to love and accept Jesus are really wrong and driving more away than we help. And I'm beginning to think that what it says in the Old Testament might not always be litererally true, maybe trying to prove to others that it is might be driving others away.

But I just can't accept that the Bible isn't perfect. After all it is what God gave us so we know what to do.

I just don't know. Satan might be tricky enough to use our belief in God to drive others away.

HOW DO I TELL???

Believers claim to know without a shadow of a doubt, that their God is loving and good - but if they don't even fully understand their God (his plan, his wishes for the human race, why bad things happen etc.) then how can they know for sure that he is good?

I have been studying with my sister...she is a newer believer and I have been attempting to help her on her pride. It is a big downfall for her. She has a lot of good arguments and questiond but I can't put into words how to explain the difference between pride which God is against, and being proud for doing God's work?? I know he doesn't want you to have a low self esteem. I just can't seem to explain it right.
