It would be wrong to conclude that the Bible condemns money itself or any of its basic uses. The Bible shows that money provides a practical defense against poverty and its attendant troubles, enabling people to procure necessities. King Solomon wrote: “Wisdom is for a protection the same as money is for a protection.”

HOW often we hear someone call money “the root of all evil.” This gives the wrong impression because money is not the root of all evil. There is nothing evil intrinsic in the circulating medium called “money.”

What the root of all evil really is can be found in the words of Christ’s apostle: “Those who are determined to be rich fall into temptation and a snare and many senseless and hurtful desires which plunge men into destruction and ruin. For the love of money is a root of all sorts of injurious things, and by reaching out for this love some have been led astray from the faith and have stabbed themselves all over with many pains.” (1 Tim. 6:9, 10)

Here, then, is this evil-inspiring root—the love of money!

Jesus is the King of Kings. How can a king have any authority or power without wealth? If you study the scriptures on Jesus you'll see that He was, in fact, wealthy and not poor. See also Job, Abraham, Joseph, Jacob, King David, King Solomon. All of these men were Godly and wealthy. As long as your wealth isn't your first love, then I don't see what the problem is.

It is NOT money that is the 'root of all evil'.

It is the LOVE of MONEY that is.
When you put acquiring wealth before service to God.
(Ecclesiastes 7:12) For wisdom is for a protection [the same as] money is for a protection; but the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom itself preserves alive its owners.
