Sometimes people will ask a question, then proceed on their own thoughts without really listening to the answer. Some people doubt the understanding of another if the person their talking to doesn't become exicted or react the way they think that person should react.

I've learn that if you expect people to behave according to their personalities you will never be disappointed. For those who go off on a tangent it's often because they are type of personality that tends to be wrapped up in their type of behavior patterns and do not understand others will act differently. There is no reason to defend yourself at that point because the tangent is no longer about you but about them. Some people are just very good at making everything about what they think and feel.

Christianity was the ultimate product of religious syncretism in the ancient world. Its emergence owed nothing to a holy carpenter. There were many Jesuses but the fable was a cultural construct. Nazareth did not exist in the 1st century AD – the area was a burial ground of rock-cut tombs. Following a star would lead you in circles. The 12 disciples are as fictitious as their master, invented to legitimise the claims of the early churches. The original Mary was not a virgin. That idea was borrowed from pagan goddesses.

Scholars have known all this for more than 200 years but priestcraft is a highly profitable business and finances an industry of deceit to keep the show on the road. "Jesus better documented than any other ancient figure" ? Don't believe a word of it. Unlike the mythical Jesus, a real historical figure like Julius Caesar has a mass of mutually supporting evidence.

Not at all, you're quite right to feel that way.

You have to ask yourself a few questions...

How did this conversation come up? Were you preaching or ministering at someone who knows a lot more about the issue than you do?

If you get stuck in a rut with nothing to say, are you absolutely confident you actually do have anything to say? Maybe you're wrong.

Either way, the best thing you can do is keep reading and learning and have an open mind. If you read and listen and learn and your faith stays intact, you'll be far more prepared for any other challenges to your faith. You might also learn something.

Best of luck with your quest.

Pray about it. The Bible condemns pursuing your imagination (Isaiah 65:2) so there's no point making up an ideal scenario beforehand and waiting for it to happen. Pray about it whenever people question you and remember that God is a creative God. If people want information about your personal stuff, there's a zillion marketing companies in the world to gather that information. Try to point attention to how God creates (Galatians 6:15).

1 Peter 3:15-17
But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. It is better, if it is God's will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.

Some religions say that human beings, due to their sinfulness, cannot approach God without an intermediary -- which mistakenly implies that God is unable or unwilling to forgive human-beings directly. Adam "atoned" for his sin by saying "My Lord I have sinned and if you do not forgive me and have mercy upon me then I shall indeed have lost." So God forgave him. Similarly, all human beings have the door to forgiveness left open to them by God until the day they die

In the words of the Prophet Muhammad: "Every person is born with the innate religious faith (to submit to God Almighty)." Thus when an individual accepts Islam, he is not turning his back on any prior revelation but rather is returning to the original and true revelation of Allah and to his own nature as a creation of Allah. This being the case, Islam is your birthright

There is a booklet you can pick up at your local Christian Book Store (may be able to get it on the net)called Share Jesus Without Fear by William Fay & Ralph Hodge that you would benifit greatly from. It shows you the correct way to share your faith, and when not to go any further when talking to others about your faith. I hope you will read it. Good Luck and God bless!!

Unlike your louder brethren, you're not driving anyone away from the church.

If people want to talk, they will. For the rest, diverting onto a tangent is a reasonably polite way of allowing you comfort in your beliefs.

Respect that in people and they will respect you more. That's the best recommendation for your beliefs that you can give.

Many are confused me also including my muslim friends about salvation in Jesus christ.
But i confirmed that Jesus is the only and one way to salvation and thus the enternal life.
I did a very comfortable research before my conversion got many questions about Islam, but not much answers. I confirm that Jesus Christ is the only answer and the way to eternal Life. Also I confirmed that Islam is a false religion and Qu’ran has been partly copied from HOLY BIBLE. I am very much impressed with the LOVE & COMPASSION of Jesus Christ, which is not visible in Mohammed.

Next time they go off on a tangent just tell them that you thought they would be glad that you believe the way you do. God bless

God gives us boldness to proclaim his word. The Holy Spirit will make the word of truth come alive in the person if they are being called. Don't despair because you don't see any one changing before your eyes. The seed that is planted has to have time to sprout, and that happens inside the person where you can't see, but God can. Just keep on contending for the faith once delivered.
