Catholics are Christians.
Protestants are Christians.
Not all "Christians" are Christians

Catholics believe that the Pope is incapable of an error in doctrine because of his office. The heirarchy of the Church, with nuns, priests, bishops and cardinals is quite dufferent from Protestant denominations, and the Catholic requirement for celebacy among all its clergy has also set that church apart from others---and has caused many problems, some of which are well-known. (and often over-publicized)
Catholic Charities is possibly the finest charitable organization in the history of the world, and they relieve all manner of suffering throughout the world, efficiently and with love. When disaster strikes, the Catholics are among the first to arrive and the last to leave. And there are orphanages, shelters, clinics, hospitals, and homes for the elderly run by the Catholics all over the planet, sometimes in the face of great danger to the clergy who run them.
I am a Protestant---raised in a faintly anti-Catholic home. I admire the Catholics greatly---and have no desire to become one.

I think you mean to ask "What is the difference between Catholics and Protestants?" In my estimation the most significant difference is that Catholics retain the sacrament of the Eucharist which almost all of the Protestant churches lost when Luther rejected the papacy. Catholics can receive the miraculous body of Christ every day if they want to...it is hard to put into words how beautiful, how powerful this experience is when it is fully understood.

i THINK you mean what's the difference between Catholics and Protestant Christians (b/c Catholics ARE Christians). Catholics pray to Mary and the Saints, other Christian denominations don't. Catholics believe in original sin, protestants don't. The list goes on forever...but here's a good forum to get more differences.

Their basic doctrine is sound. They have included some writings in their bible that were not included in King James. Some of their beliefs differ from mainstream Christians such as, infant baptism, confessing sins to a priest rather than Jesus, purgatory, praying to deceased people, Mary & Saints.
. . .but bottom line, they believe the divinity of Jesus & that he died for our sins. That if we ask for forgiveness Jesus is faithful and just to forgive and save.
Jesus is so merciful and he realizes our humanity. Having every detail exactly right isn't as important as just seeking him with everything. The Holy Spirit corrects us as we go.
They definately are Christian. God Bless!

Catholics 'are' Christians. Perhaps you need to be more specific in the differences between denominations.
Cheers :-)
