You can be whatever you want to be in your heart. If you have some things about Christianity that you agree with and some things about Islam that you agree with, then you could try to incorporate both of those aspects into your belief system. However, with the nature of these two religions in mind, I believe it would be very difficult for you to become a member of both religions "with their blessing" (no pun intended). There is so much animosity between Christianity and Islam that you would find yourself in a position of having to defend your faith to them constantly. So to answer your question, no there isn't any sensible reason why you can't be both....but the world isn't always a sensible place, and they will make it difficult on you. Good Luck in your decision.

If you really want to tweak some noodles, a little in-depth studying will show you that by becoming neither, you will become both (and no, I'm not trying to toss out some mysterious riddles that make sense later, thank you MuShuFasa, lol) If you do what's right, and treat people decent, you will be upholding the ideals of both religions, the only real difference between the two is doctrine on Jesus (son of god vs. important profit)....Christianity just tries to make itself #1 through threat of the absolute...."believe exactly what we tell you, or you're shafted, period." I say be a big enough man to behave like you should without threats of the boogie man or little fork-tounged devils in a lake of fire, and to hell with all the limitations and controls placed about our shoulders by organized religion.

You can always stay arab or whatever your culture is, but I think that Christianity and Islam are quite different beliefs. Christians believe that G-d is a three fold being and created mankind as He is. (See Genesis 1:26) With a spirit, soul and a body... but Islam as well as Judaism believes that G-d is only Spirit. Islam does believe in Jesus, but only that He was a prophet and nothing else. Most Christians know Jesus as G-d manifested to us in bodily form. So belief-wise, this isn't totally compatible. There may be small variations within each belief and within individual believers, but I think it would be too confusing for you to try adopting every one of these views as your own.

There wouldn't be that many conflicts, except that can you still claim Christ as your Saviour, and as the divine Son of God, while believing he is nothing more than a prophet? I know what you mean, though. There are many beautiful truths and practices in Islam, and many beautiful truths and practices in Christianity... Wouldn't it be great to have all those beautiful things together in one religion!
P.S. Let me know by email if any Muslims say it is possible to be a Christian Muslim.

The reality is that oil and water don't mix. One thing I would advise is that whatever one you decide to throw your lot in with, make sure you hold the other with respect. On the other hand you can always explore any aspect of any religion for your own edification especially those that express compassion and mercy. I am sure that the Bible and the Koran have a lot of wonderful wisdom to be shared by anyone of good will.
Peace

The one that comes to mind first is that:
a: You must believe Mohammed is the prophet of Allah and the Koran is perfect.
b: The Koran reads that Jesus was not the son of God, or even God himself. Muslims believe Jesus to be a prophet of God.
I am not sure of any other reason, there are of course religions out there that incorporate both beliefs systems.

There are certain religions that allow a la carte pick and choose your concepts, what parts you want to believe to best suite you, but neither muslim nor Christian is one of them

As religions it might have some problems but it is certainly acceptable to respect all the great teachers who walked our earth and the wisdom they left us. Unfortunately it is the people who we trust to interpret those wisdoms who are often foolish.
