We saw part of it. It was sad to see. The atheists were kind of odd I think. There was this frowzy dressed lady? and this unimpressive guy.
It seemed a little unfair really cause our side had fairly well spoken people, but they got ripped on by the audience so maybe that evened up the score.
I also chose Jesus because I wanted to change my life and His Holy Spirit gave me that power.

It was interesting. Cameron and Comfort are taking a lot of criticism, but I feel that they were more polished in their arguments (although Comfort's analogies...the Coke can, the Painting, etc...those analogies got real old, real fast) The Atheists were more about "Let's laugh at these guys because they don't make sense" than they were trying to prove their own point. Kelly was especially annoying. At least Brian was making valid points. Kelly was just his ditzy sidekick that threw in a bunch of corny punch lines and thought she was special.
After a while, it turned into a stereotypical debate. The Atheists were saying "Christians are ignorant" and the Christians were saying that "Atheists weren't thinking". The Atheists argued that some nations weren't religious but they were healthy, educated, etc, and the Christians argued that some people believed in God, but they were geniuses. What these guys never acknowledged is that there are smart people from all walks of life. There are nice, moral people from all walks of life. Not just Christians. Not just Atheists.
It was interesting, but I felt both sides presented arguments that didn't make a great deal of sense. It's the same debate we've had for centuries, with the same results.
Edit - I do think the "cancer" lady was a bit of a nut.

I kept hearing about it but don't have a TV, so I watched it on youtube. First Cameron and Comfort taught heresy: "You don't need faith to believe in God." You do, and you need faith to even believe in the world. Then they broke their agreement and forfeited the debate by using the Bible. They had no understanding at all of the atheist's arguments. They passed off personal experience for science, and in general made fools of themselves and showed that they had no idea what they were talking about.
Frankly, people like that should keep their mouth shut. They don't help, and they make a mockery of Christ and Christianity.

The first half is on youtube in 6 parts, and the second half is on the ABC website. At least 2 hours in all. Yes, I watched it all.
I'm glad you're not afraid of hell. But that's how they get a lot of people - that's how they were trying to convince people to convert on that show.
Ray and Kirk changed the subject so often that they barely addressed any points at all. But at the very least you must admit that they provided NO scientific evidence of god, and could not even stick to their own promise of not using the Bible or faith to support their arguments.
For some people replying, this is not the banana argument. This was filmed this week.
As for wanting to cry, Kirk's description of evolution did that to me. So ignorant - so many misunderstandings - and to think, he does this for a living.
I agree Kelly was pretty annoying - she needs to work on her debate skills. But even though she wasn't nearly as practiced a debator as Ray and Kirk, her points were more valid.

C'mon he showed pictures of "sheep dogs" and "bull frogs." Honestly that was a said attempt to disprove evolution. Ray couldn't even answer the questions without venturing off onto another topic that was completly irrelevant to subject matters. I wish the atheists were better represented with someone like Richard Dawkins.

I started to watch one of the clips on ABC.com. I got to the point where Cameron was trying to explain how evolution says "an explosion happened and everything came from nothing". I decided that I couldn't take any more than that.

you said you didnt become a christian because of your fear of hell. but then you say you found god because you wanted forgiveness for your sins. the only reason someone would want forgiveness for thier sins from god is so they dont go to hell. i dont know of any other reason why gods forgiveness would matter. the other two reason's you put down where good ones.

I was amused by the very crass woman growling from the audience...CANCER!!!... I find it amusing that HER attempt to disprove God, absolutely does not recognize the fact that pollution of the air, soil and water, high tension electrical lines, solar radiation, nuclear radiation, and diet have no relation to CANCER. To her it was God's fault, or some sort of anti God rant. God bless, I thought that the two atheists were very shallow arrogant and snooty. C'mon, INVISIBLE GNOMES?
Give me a break, loudmouth.
