There are various theologies that try to discern Gods activity within the human experience, time, and place. There's liberation theology, black theology etc. Considering the given fact that truth transcends culture, how does one in your own opinion deal with culture and truth when the fact is culture exists and centuries of standard processed theology which happens to be western thought during a DIFFERENT TIME PERIOD has not effectively reached other oppressed communities OF TODAY. Would there be a use ( if in agreement) for an appropriate theology that could effectively reach oppressed communities, which would not only bring salvation but freedom in identity, social, economic living from oppressors/oppression.

This is what Christians claim, Salvation through Jesus, ALONE. Before Jesus spoke these words, he said; "In my Father's house are many mansions (dwelling places); if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a mansion (a dwelling place) for you." (John 14:2)
The above explicit statement confirms that Jesus was going to prepare "a" mansion and not "all" the mansions in "my Father's house". Obviously, the prophets that came before him and the one to come after, were to prepare the other mansions for their respective followers. It is a folly to believe that Jesus (or any prophet) was the "DESTINATION".
But if you insist that Jesus is the destination then, what about thsi :
Jesus said; "Not every one that says to me; `Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of my Father, who is in heaven." (Mt.7:21).
For believers of Trinity, does the above make sense to you? Cant you guys see that God is far much Superior than Jesus?

I was dismissed form college in december after a year an a half. I spent three months trying to work my way back into the university. I was angry , depressed and deragned. Now I get my grades back and they arn't nearly enough to qualify for readmisson. I may have to petition my grade and I have more embarassing meetings to make about my future and my grades. I had a meeting due 15 minutes ago, I go to the counselors office just to find out he is out at a meeting that ends in two hours. I sheduled this meeting! My mom says its the devil, he's working on me because I haven't given my life to the lord yet. Christianity and its god scares me. I am so sick of the idea of god now, but of course I believe in the evil force. I just want to move out. enough whining anyway, what advice can you give me? (please excuse my spelling, I cant even think straigth right now. whats wrong with me)

I know plenty of people who are good-hearted & giving & loving parents. They do not go to church but they seem to have their stuff together more than these "God fearing" "bible beating" FREAKS! Agree or disagree: Just because you don't believe in "GOD" (eye roll) doesn't mean you can't be a good, giving person with strong healthy morals & values!

One last Q (for now, anyways) about religion in schools. I saw an answer that stated there is barely time to teach our kids the essentials in school. The schools are failing. Maybe this is in fact the heart of the matter. We AREN'T teaching the essentials when all we teach them is math and english. Religion is important, in my mind, because it teaches us that we are responsible for each other. I don't care if you believe in God or not. Teaching kids to treat others how they want to be treated is not a bad philosophy. Teaching them in school that stealing is wrong, that killing is wrong, that adultery is wrong (all opinions, are they not?) can't be bad. I am not trying to suggest that the onus for morality doesn't ultimately fall on the parents, but why must it be two completely seperate messages? By making a parents message different from a schools message, aren't we really forcing our children (b/c we are "fact driven" people) to choose which message is more important?

As I child I was christened and had Godparents, 2 of which I am still close to today and have helped me through life. Now I'm pregnant myself, there are a couple of special people I would like to ask to be Godparent, but I am not religious and neither is my fiancè and the baby will not be christened, although I'd like an official naming ceremony. Is there a secular name for Godparents and can it be something official?

As disciples of Jesus, their scripts should have been in Aramaic, the language of Jesus and the Jews then.
The ABSOLUTE EVIDENCE we have is that the original text of Matthew and John and in fact all the manuscripts were in Greek.
In your Bible, it says, "For God is not [the author] of confusion" 1 Corinthians 14:33.
However, if you look at every aspect of Christianity, from the Cruci-Fiction to Resurrection, to the implementation of the Trinity doctrine in 325 CE (Almost 300 years after Jesus disappeared), the differences in the Gospel writers' narration of Events (Its True that 4 different authors may have left out certain things, but, how would you reconcile that when you claim that they were Inspired by God), its nothing but Confusion !
Of course, Christians always have ready made answers but, that doesnt mean A Flaw is not A Flaw!
Ask yourself, if the Bible is God's Word, dont you think its God's Responsibility to make sure its Perfect?

I have heard that we must love ourselves before we can love another person (and it may be true). But it has never seemed to work for me. So, I thought I would offer another (additional) means along that tangent. So I was just wondering if we might try to understand ourselves a little better before we try to understand others (even the crazy little things we are and do, and of course, the no-brainers that we can do and not do.) Parethesis means to whisper?

(Please excuse my spelling, I don't have spell check on this software.)

I certainly hope you will enjoy how we might better understand and describe ourselves, to ourselves and others.(Especially your mate or best friend, as this exercise was an excerpt from my book "Encyclopedia of Love", which I don't recommend that you purchase because it is too lengthy and too boring.) - did you whisper that parenthetical phrase?

You now have a method to describe yourself. Simply write a paragraph or two by using your chosen statements.

What if scientists discovered a duck with a crocodile head? Kirk Cameron had a picture of one on the Bill O'Reily show. He claims that we should see this animal if evolution was real. What if we actually found one though? Ooo! Even better, what if we found an animal with a body like a beaver or an otter and a bill and webbed feet like a duck?

The comments about voting for a person because of his stand on important issues regardless of his religion is lame.
Mitt Romney is a Mormon, a member of a cult. Mormons believe stuff fantasies are made from; ie:Jesus and Lucifer are brothers, and so on.
Mitt Romney being a Mormon means he thinks as a Mormon and acts like a Mormon , which tells me he is NOT a Christian, but a follower of Joseph Smith the false prophet. I don't think Al Sharpton should apologize, he said the truth. Mormons are not even recognized as God's children by Christianity. Go into any Christian store and you will see that any type of Mormon literature is not even allowed in Protestant stores for obvious reasons.
I pray to God he will not allow a Mormon to be president, however I must admit that even if Porky Pig became president, God's word will still come to pass.
I won't vote for Romney for three reasons.
1. He is a mormon
2. He is a republican
3. He is anti-Protestant.
