The comments about voting for a person because of his stand on important issues regardless of his religion is lame.
Mitt Romney is a Mormon, a member of a cult. Mormons believe stuff fantasies are made from; ie:Jesus and Lucifer are brothers, and so on.
Mitt Romney being a Mormon means he thinks as a Mormon and acts like a Mormon , which tells me he is NOT a Christian, but a follower of Joseph Smith the false prophet. I don't think Al Sharpton should apologize, he said the truth. Mormons are not even recognized as God's children by Christianity. Go into any Christian store and you will see that any type of Mormon literature is not even allowed in Protestant stores for obvious reasons.
I pray to God he will not allow a Mormon to be president, however I must admit that even if Porky Pig became president, God's word will still come to pass.
I won't vote for Romney for three reasons.
1. He is a mormon
2. He is a republican
3. He is anti-Protestant.

Someone said a mormon is a protestant. Wrong. Mormons are cultists. They don't protest anything but the truth.

Last time I checked , we were at war with the Taliban. Why would we let one of their cousins into the White House? Let Mormon Mitt in the White House and it will be non stop LDS propaganda. I would vote 4 porky pig b4 mitt.

Mormons aren't cultists, and they aren't "Anti-Protestant" either. I'm going to vote for the candidate that has the best political views, in my eyes. If he happens to be a Mormon, so be it. Focusing strictly on religious beliefs on who should be president is a bit of a narrow-minded thing to do, don't you think? He's running for president, not for Reverend of the USA.

"Mormons are not even recognized as God's children by Christianity"

Aw come on...Is that necessary? That's absolutely ridiculous, not to mention hateful! I'm surprised that a fellow Christian would say that. Do you seriously not see how mean-spirited and bigoted your statements are? God doesn't have a chosen few. He loves us all.

I see that you do not know anything about the LDS church. Everyone said also they would not let a catholic to be president and look who became president that was a catholic was president Kennedy.
As far as voting for president i will base my votes on who i think that do the best job as president. I will watch the different debates and get what each one stands on and then base my vote on who i think that is most qualified for the job.

Free your mind, and your *** will follow.

To not vote for somebody just because he/she is a certain religious group, a certain party, and anti something or another is ludicrous.

I'm a humanist, whether or not there is a god doesn't concern me very much.

With that said, religion DOES play a role in a politicians life. If that politician follows his beliefs that is.

This is how I see it. I don't care whether a politician is mormon, jew, muslim, christian, buddhist/etc etc......if they keep their personal beliefs to themselves and work to further the good of everyone in their country and their political views are the same as mine or similiar, then I'd vote for them.

I would not vote for Romney because he DOES follow his beliefs. His beliefs counter my own. Pro'choice, and a person's body is their own to do with how they feel. I think that gay people should have the same rights as we do. They should be able to marry and be accorded the same legal benefits and rights that a married couple have.

But because of these two views and what stems from them, the church and my views are different.

Like somebody above me said, I would vote for a religious person who mirrored my own views before an athiest that didn't.

Besides, Romney gives off the appearance of somebody who will lie or "flip flop" on an issue to get votes....this does not a good politician make.

And really, all religions are cults in some form or another.

I personally don't vote based on a candidate's religion because we live in a society that has promised (although not quite delivered) a FREEDOM OF RELIGION! Why is this so hard for people to understand? What about this man's political views? What about his political platform? Shouldn't that matter at all, considering we're trying to pick our next political leader? (Or am I the only one that thinks that makes sense?!)

Also, keep in mind that George W.Bush is "good Christian" and he's gone and murdered how many thousands of people and sent thousands of our troops off for the slaughter for his own gain. If you ask me, this country needs to worry more about the way our government is run than about what god our leader prays to.

Can you tell me where in the constitution it says that the US is to only allow what you consider a christian as president?I thought elections were about political views?I would vote for a Mormon who was on par with my political views before I would vote for an atheist who wasn't,and I am definitely atheist.Your question really hits the bulls eye as to why "atheists" come on here for me. If you have your way,we will have a theocracy. The only difference between you and a Muslim fanatic in Iran is the title. That's really scary stuff.

a persons religious background is very important when that person will be representing hundreds of thousands of people...this is a democracy and only the most neutral candidate is acceptable and that clearly would need to be someone who is not onesided on religion but who is open and accepting to all theories about a creator

What an UN-American way of thinking. You should be voting on who is going to be best at running the country. You shouldn't vote based on relgion, race, or anything else. And Please get your facts straight before posting. Only God is the judge of anyone.

I dont vote for a person because of what their religion is. When I vote I vote for the person I believe is most qualified to do the job they are running for. Does not matter to me if they follow a certain religion or not or what party they may belong to.

A correction on your post. If one is not Catholic they are Protestant and that would include Mormons

Yes, I would vote for a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. That is the name of the church, by the way, NOT the Mormon Church.

And the reason I would vote for him is NOT because he is LDS, but because I believe he has morals and an agenda to not further the word of the church, but to futher the word that the United States stands to lose if a lot of issues are pushed through.

More and more we are electing people based on popularity not on what they can actually do. If Romney is the most unpopular choice - then color me unpopular. But to simply deride someone because of their faith - is not only archaic and close-minded, it's heretical.

Look at how the nation embraced John F. Kennedy.

He's not anti-protestant. That's just simply not true. I would vote for a mormon, as much as I'd vote for anyone of any faith if they took the right stances on the issues. To that note, I would vote for a mormon, certainly not Romney though. He can't take a stance on anything and have it stick, he's completely worthless.
