Why would a god INSIST that I believe in his existence to get into heaven or be a good person? Surely all he is bothered about is that we pursue a good life with morals? I do anyway! It's just a man made guilt trip isn't it?Why would he be upset if I didn't follow him? 'upset' is a human emotion, god isn't human? Or his 'wrath' Human emotion again!

Theists, God-believers... are you prepared to answer?

Human consciensious, (i.e., our ability to experience through our senses and reason with our minds,) has a yet undescovered physical and chemical nature to it. These questions of physics are likely to be solved or at least become much better understood following a few more decades of research.

How will you respond when science tells you with certainty that physical death includes a definitive end to consciensious? Will you still insist that "life after death" is possible? Will you continue to claim that there is a "soul" and a "spirit" with the ability to live on after all conscious ability is obliterated?

If consciousness depends on physical and chemical support to exist, (which it does,) then how could it ever exist without a living body to maintain it?

Why can't anyone accept that while your religion might work for you, it doesn't for someone else? Can't you accept that someone else's religion makes them happy, makes them feel whole and saved? I'm a Wiccan (but raised Catholic) and I was ALWAYS taught that people are people, no matter what faith they are, and we should love them. God(dess) preaches love, and no one wants to listen.

A lot of christians seem to relish the fact that come judgment day, all of us atheists will want to change our mind but "then it is too late".

Does God's forgiveness come with an expiry date?

I can post a question which clearly points out serious flaws in the islamic religion. Christians will then tell me how right I am and how much sense my statement makes. I can then turn around and apply the very same logic to point out a flaw within christianity... and then all of a sudden I somehow stopped making sense even though the logic is exactly the same. Not only that but I am either a troll or in the grip of Satan according to their ideas.

Why such a change in views?

It discourages me to see people agreeing with me because the idea expressed is a shared belief. I think people should agree with me if what I say makes sense logically. And if it does make sense over here, it should also make sense over there. The laws of math and science do not change depending on location, culture, or religion. Why should the laws of logic be any different?

No answers from the "why would you want to read that" camp please. I am an agnostic reading the bible because I want to know what all the fuss is about.

He told them still another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into a large amount of flour untill it worked all through the dough."
[New International Bible, Matthew 13, v.33]

I can see how it may be as yeast in the population (raising and changing them), but I do not see the relevance of the amount of flour or the fact that it is made to dough. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have been noticing in my life and in the lives of those around me that we sometimes put up walls around our hearts when we get too close to people. I know from personal experience that sometimes this occures when we were hurt or abandoned as a child.

But a situation has come up with a guy. we were thinking about courting, and these issues came up. I had a discussion with him the other day and we both recognized the problum but then the question came up that what is the solution?

I work full time in a ministry and I am looking for some godly perspectives and biblical expamples to study on. I dont even know where to begin.

So, with that being said. . .
