Knowing that something cannot be made without something or someone making it is pure logical. Its taught from a very basic age. So do i understand that atheists missed some of the most important years of their lives by not going to educational places at such an early age. Gosh it must have been hard doing mathematics when you you werent told that creation is made by a creator. Is it down to lack of education in early life cos this isnt harry potter?

If that's really a miracle and it happens to a million people a day (ok maybe not a million) why worship god? Why not worship women since they are capable of this "miracle" over and over again?

Is this not just child abuse of a mental kind? Children don't have the ability to evaluate 'truth' and they have a complete trust in parents. Is that trust being abused? Is this brain-washing (old 1960s expression) responsible for young muslims suicide bombing when the older clerics who get them to do it stay fat and well?

At the urging of a Christian friend I just read the book of Job (and some related commentaries and analysis). Either I am missing something or this book is horrible. Let me summarize:

1. God and the Devil make a bet that a certain man "Loves God" no matter what.

2. God lets the Devil torture the poor guy and the guy holds fast.

3. God lets the Devil kill 10 innocent children to torture the guy even more.

4. After much thought the guy decides to ask God a reasonable and rational question - "What's going on? Please explain?"

5. God gets mad and tells the guy to not question him because "I Am Bigger and Stronger Than You Are".

6. God decides that the bet is over, he won, and he gives Job replacements for everything he had INCLUDING REPLACEMENT CHILDREN.

This is horrible! As near as I can tell it teaches that you had better be afraid of god and you had better not ask questions.

What am I missing?

This is why life must be cherished. If this mom had chosen abortion she would have missed the opportunity to love her precious baby. Sure, his life was short, but he died knowing his mother loved him, felt her holding, kissing and protecting him. How sad if the person who was supposed to love him most would have brutally ripped him from the womb and killed him without even alleviating his pain.

The story was in this morning's Chicago Tribune.

A simple thing as "The whole is equal to the sum of all its parts," which I learned in the '60s, is no longer an axiom? a theorem? a law? I can't find it on line as to who, when or where this was postulated. Boy, am I confused! Too much living the '60s? LOL Any help from the "old timers" on here?

I think I remember seeing a website once that talked about turning it into a "National Day of Action" and how those who don't believe in prayer should go out and actually do good, like volunteer or give blood or something. Does anyone know anything about that? I'd like to participate. :)

As a side note: Why do you think The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints oppresses women?

I'm a woman, been a member of the Church all my life. I've NEVER felt oppressed. Oh wait, there must be someone behind me telling me to type that.

Most Christians will know the answer to this, but I am trying to make a point…please don’t answer “I don’t believe in God”…be thoughtful about your answer and if you feel the need to add that in say, “I don’t believe in God, but if I did I feel that this should happen”…so this Satanist…we’ll call him Bob and he is a nice guy. Everyone who meets him thinks he’s kind, generous, trustworthy, a good father, a hard worker…over all a nice guy and a pretty decent human being, but he just happens to be a Satanist. He goes to Satanists rallies, curses the name of God, burns Bibles, leads other people astray…he hates Jesus, rejects redemption, and God. Now let’s pretend that Bob gets into a car crash and dies…and he is standing in front of God awaiting judgment…should he go to Heaven to be with God? Or to Hell to be with the entity he was worshiping his whole life? Keep in mind that he was a good human being by man’s standards, but also keep in mind that man’s standards are not God’s standards, and that this man never repented of his life style and sinful deeds…where should he go? Should God forgive someone who pretty much spit in his face? If so, why?
