Just something I've been wondering about... Criticism by some theists suggests that atheists are too pragmatic, serious or prosaic, interested only in dry factuality.

But I have a theory that most atheists are at least as imaginative as (and most likely moreso than) theists — as long as the "Star Wars", "Lord of the Rings", "Matrix", etc., kinds of fantasies are presented as creative entertainment instead of "truth".

I also think theists may be less likely to enjoy the fantasy film genre, for whatever reason. So who likes fantasy films more: theists or atheists?

Religions like Islam and christianity have in their scriptures, scientific facts that scientist have only proven now. These were already theorised in the holy scriptures some thousand years ago. Some scientist have worked backwards (to the scriptures) and went back to the lab.

How is it that you believe scientist so easily?

The quran has already accurately explained the developmment of the human embryo in an absolutely poetic form. It also explains the flow of blood in the heart and the life of the worker bee, etc, etc, etc,

How is it that you dont believe in the word of god?

....................again - no harm intended

The true meaning of ISLAM is, SURVIVAL, EXISTENCE, PEACE and COMPLETE SURRENDER before GOD. Islam in all above meaning is the best religion as it is the one which shows the best way to live and attain the highest degree of upliftment of soul and get QURBATAN ELALLAH ( the close ness with GOD). Why it is highjacked by those who dont know anything and pretend to be AALIM.

My last question drew some answers citing the differences between "religion" and "spirituality". It is easy to see the religion aspect of Christianity - but what about your spirituality? Please describe what the spiritual side of Christianity entails for you and how you separate that from the religion side (if you do).

I was doing a search on the computer for a comparison of the different English Bible translations. I stumbled across a site that some guy wrote where he personally gave his views (advantages and disadvantages) on the different major English Bible translations. After surfing that site my Firefox closed unexpectedly and then when I got back on I couldn't remember the site name. Does anyone know what site I am trying to find, it a site where a guy writes his views (advantages and disadvantages) on different Bible translations? I do remember that he had no disadvantages he could find as of now for the HCSB, so hope that helps.

Allah is not a moon God, and for you to feel some spontaneous need to keep attacking a faith you do not understand, you don't seem to want to learn. Here is a link to help explain all you might want to know about this moon god myth. Please have an open mind, and please do not put insulting or disrespecting remarks on my question as I am not going to your pages and posting it. I consider insult to be posting a question just to call names or put down. Disagreeing is not an insult, I am not so narrow-minded.

Who do you think wrote the book of Hebrews?

Some scholars say Paul....others even point to Barnabus......

I'll take the safe route and just say God the Holy Spirit did it.

in the universe, then why does it really matter if hate each other because of skin color or religious beliefs? What will change if we poison our world or blow it up altogether?

I don't believe any of this. My point is, I get the sense that a lot of people call our collective lives meaningless and then ***** and moan about how screwed up the world is. If we actually are insignificant specks, it doesn't matter. If it matters, maybe we aren't so insignificant after all.

I don't know whether you heard, but there will be a debate on ABC Saturday night between an atheist and a Christian, who states he will prove the existance of God without using the Bible or mentioning faith:

I thought it might prompt some interesting discussion on Monday. What do you folks think?

Ok I am not christian so obviously not catholic, but they are Christian. Yet I see more rumors about them then I do Paganism and that is just weird. They believe Christ was divine, that he rose again, that he died for your sins, that is the savior and the way......so where exactly are they not Christians too? Just because they do things differently doesn't mean they worship the devil. I just can't see my grandmother doing that while she is voluteering to help take care of kids the world doesn't want. Those evil Catholics....helping the world along with the rest of us.

What standard is used to determine right and wrong.

If it is always wrong to tell someone else they are in religious error and you hear someone that tells others they are wrong, is it also wrong for you to tell him he is wrong in doing this?

I remember as an altarboy, looking around at the blank faces as people recited the creed, the declaration of faith. None of them seemed to be concious of the actually words they were saying. Even as a young boy, I found it impossible to accept everything in the creed as truth, yet was compelled, along with everyone else, to recite it at least once a week.

How many people go to church and recite words they either don't fully comprehend, or don't totally agree with?

People are given free will. Yet we have to give up free will in order to enter Heaven. Sounds like a pretty lousy gift if it has to be given back.

Also, If we must accept Christ as our Saviour in order to get accepted into Heaven what happens to the other billions of people? It seems quite hilarious, like a bad joke. Are they reincarnated to try again?

This section is rife with arguments over who is right and which religion (or lack thereof) is better. I think it's more important to ask what we can do through our personal spirituality to help the planet. There doesn't need to be one "right" religion or philosophy. So, how can you use your personal beliefs and spirituality to better the world?
