Who do you think wrote the book of Hebrews?

Some scholars say Paul....others even point to Barnabus......

I'll take the safe route and just say God the Holy Spirit did it.

Amen...I think Paul did. But either way it was God breathed.

Part of the reason for the confusion over who wrote it, my dad was just the other day was telling me. that The Geneva Bible was written in plowman's language for the everyday people...A large part of the King James was written for the nobility and was written for people. For the King James, parts of it, rather than going back to the original they used the Geneva Bible and just inserted parts of it so you have some in a more noble version of English and some a lower version the local people used....this mix, caused a bit of a difference in styles of Paul's writing, making people unsure if he really wrote Hebrews or not.

You're right, it doesn't matter; for the record I don't think Paul wrote it, as he always starts with a greeting and ends with blessings. Personally, I think it may well have been Barnabas. No particular reason: simply because he was heavily involved with Paul and the letter to the Hebrews shows the author certainly taught in a similar way. But as you pointed out, the human author doesn't matter, as it was the inspiration of the Holy Spirit that caused its writing.

I personally believe it was Paul. I doubt that Barnabus wrote the book of Hebrews. Also, if you read the way the book of Hebrews was written versus Paul's Epistles, there are several similarities... one being the great emphasis on justification through faith alone, as Hebrews is called the "Bible's Hall of Faith."

It's really not important. Even though most people attibute the book to Paul, it's best just to say, "the author of the book of Hebrews" whenever making reference to it.

I've always heard it was Peter. I know it doesn't say, but I'e heard that all my life. It doesn't read like Paul to me either.

I agree that it was Paul. But of course you're right, the spirit inspired whoever the author was....as with the rest of the books of our bible.

God bless you.

I think Paul. But as you said no matter who did all scriptures are of God.
