Ok I am not christian so obviously not catholic, but they are Christian. Yet I see more rumors about them then I do Paganism and that is just weird. They believe Christ was divine, that he rose again, that he died for your sins, that is the savior and the way......so where exactly are they not Christians too? Just because they do things differently doesn't mean they worship the devil. I just can't see my grandmother doing that while she is voluteering to help take care of kids the world doesn't want. Those evil Catholics....helping the world along with the rest of us.

I understand why you might not agree with thier practices but that doesn't make them less Christian.

Everybody persecuted everybody. My faith got burned at the stake, the jews had mass genocide and Christians in general before the organized church were thrown into the gladiator pit. I think forgiveness might be a good choice for soomething that happned forever and day ago. Isnt that what Christianity is about?

It mostly stems from misunderstanding. I am a convert to Catholicism and I know what it looks like from the outside, to those who do not understand.
When you are not taught the faith, to see someone kneeling in front of a statue of Mary looks like idolatry. It isn't...not even close! But people don't ask...they just make judgments based on what they've been told and what they think they see.
The Catholic Church teachings and practices never go against scripture. Nothing we do is un-Biblical in anyway. Not everything is mentioned in the Bible, but it can be reasoned through understanding of Christ's teachings, of the Old and New Testaments, of the religious traditions both Jewish and Christian and through divine revelation.
Once I became Catholic and understood what Catholics do and why...it became so clear to me. I have always been a Christian, but now I see clearly and what I see is beautiful and miraculous.

I love how most the answers you have gotten have said the church was out of date. And we believe this way and that. Most that answered were raised catholic, but didn't remain. Children do not grasp what adults do.
I find it funny the catholic church was the first church and all christain religions have stemed from this. The catholic church came up with the council to canonize the books to go in the bible. And yet they know so little about the religion that started there religion, because some one didn't agree with the catholics.
The catholic church is not out dated. Most people don't know what is acceptable in the church anymore, because most just go to mass and not study the religion and changes. But the church does not dictate peoples lives anymore. Birth control is acceptable. Divorce is not frown upon anymore. But abortion will not ever be allowed, and that's most people's problem with the church. The church values all life and they offer council to help women in crisis. The church has catholic charities that offer assistance to anyone in need, no matter what there faith is or lack of. Yeah this is a outdated church all right.

Wow. You nailed it. Forgiveness.
People always look at the men and not the Faith. You will always find sin and error with men, not matter what religion you're looking at. The only thing that's perfect is the Faith. Your grandmother exemplifies this beautifully.
Protestantism is simply a refusal to acknowledge the authority of the Catholic Church, authority that was given to Her by Jesus Christ. That's why all the flack.
They are still my brothers and sisters in Christ. I pray for them, as I pray for all God's children (even the pagans, lol).
God bless.

I was brought up in a Catholic family. It's just so easy to lob insults at the Catholic church. The preachers espouse tolerance and forgiveness in one breath and then basically condemn most of the population to the fires of hell in the next. And with all the sex scandals within the church in recent years... Like I said, easy.

Catholics are Christian.
There are those who do not feel that way, because they feel that Catholicism more closely follows the teachings of Paul, who never knew Christ, than of Jesus himself.
I myself feel the church is out of date; it has never left the middle ages. It is far too concerned with pomp and ceremony than doing what Jesus wanted. Note I am speaking of the *church* as an entity and NOT of individual Catholics. I know many Catholics who are very devoted to serving the poor.

Well done Jill for stand up for the Catholics. Those prods just didn't realised that they keep on splitting and still claims that they are the true church. How ironic that is???. The Catholic Church has been around for 2000 years and it is still one True Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church!!!

As soon as we strap enough rockets to the religion and blast it off into space. Then i'll forgive the RCC. This includes the current supposed pope as well.

As a Catholic, I find the bashing disgraceful. I don't believe in others faiths but would never put down one. THAT'S NOT HOW WE WERE RAISED AS CHRISTIANS.

Catholics many many years ago was the one persecuting us. Catholics believe in Jesus but they do not believe in salvation the way Christ taught it. Roman 10 is the way Christ taught salvation. When Christ died the vail of the temple was torn into. That means I no longer need someone to speak to God for me. I can go to the throne of grace my self. There is no need for anyone to confess there sins to some man. Tell your sins to God alone. If you want to know more about the Catholics persecuting us read about Nero.

Roman Catholics are Christians (as opposed to Mormon's and JW's who are not).
The RCC is mostly condemned for its dual magisterial position.
