The devil is a liar, pure evil that can make himself into a seemingly innocent thing. God is truth, pure good. He made man with the ability to make their own choices, and if man choices to believe the devil, then that is on them, not God. God loves everyone, even those of you who do not believe in him.

If you truly believe that something is the truth and you tell another person, you are not lying, you are giving them YOUR truth.
I do not believe that either god or the devil exist, so I could call you a liar if you say they are real. However, to you, when you say that god exists, you are telling me the truth.

Lies are all based upon the viewpoint from which you look.

According to Christian Mythology, God told Adam and Eve that if they ate the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge that they would "surely die". The serpant told Eve that she would not die if she ate the fruit so she and Adam ate it and...guess what?!...she didn't die! It seems that the serpant was the Honest Abe in this scenario.

While I'm on the subject, don't you wonder why God didn't want Adam and Eve to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil? He didn't want them to know right from wrong and why is that? The Bible states that God didn't want them to eat the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil because if Adam and Eve knew right from wrong, they would be like God.
