This is why life must be cherished. If this mom had chosen abortion she would have missed the opportunity to love her precious baby. Sure, his life was short, but he died knowing his mother loved him, felt her holding, kissing and protecting him. How sad if the person who was supposed to love him most would have brutally ripped him from the womb and killed him without even alleviating his pain.

The story was in this morning's Chicago Tribune.

Thanks for sharing this heart warming story about a mom who cared enough to give her child life, even if for just a short time. The comment that gripped my heart was "If his life was only the time he was in my womb". WOW- people out there that believe abortion is ok- really read this story- That mom most have struggled when she heard that her child had a problem and would not probably live very long- however that mom can say, she was able to see her baby, and love that baby- for those few short hours he survived outside the womb. God will honor that. May we humble ourselves before God and ask Him to forgive this holocaust of abortion everyday- but especially since today is national day of prayer.

Babies that old aren't able to comprehend anything. Love requires memory, can you remember anything before you were around 2-3? They really don't know what the world around them means.

Also I'd say death was the biggest pain relief ever. I support euthansia personally.

But I suppose good on her for giving it a go, if I was the mother and knew my baby wasn't going to make it past half an hour, I would have saved the effort and the c-section and have it aborted.

Regarding the whole God thing someone mentioned below, well I really hope they had a priest handy because otherwise it's going to hell unless there was an impromptu baptism and cleansing of original sin.

I find it extremely disgusting of you too use the pain of human to promote you view on the world.

I have some other story for you about a fetus that was less lucky.

Thank you for that touching story. I don't know what I would have done in her case. I believe that she will have her reward in Heaven. I will definitely remember this family in my prayers and all women who are going through this type of decision.

I don't know why she would have been a "coward" if she'd decided the best thing for the baby was to not be born at all. Do you KNOW how traumatizing birth is for a baby? The bones in his head collapsing in on themselves, etc?

Knowing the baby was going to die anyway, she had a heart-wrenching decision to make. I wouldn't envy her either way and I certainly wouldn't judge her to be a "coward" for either painful decision.

It was a touching story, I'm glad she made a choice that was right for her, and her family.

I'm not sure why so many people think that pro-choice means pro abortion...

I think it's wonderful that she had the right and the opportunity to CHOOSE what she wanted to do. All women should be afforded such rights.

It was her choice, and she made it. The key word here is CHOICE.
