Greetings,
I'm a former Roman Catholic but I'm still generally Christian.
My question is (I'm not sure where I stand on this topic)
If Jesus is the only begotten son of God doesn't that contradict what is in your bible? John The Baptist was also concieved by the power of the Holy Spirit so wouldn't that also make John another direct son of God? And Mother Mary was also concieved by the power of the Holy Spirit so that would make her the direct daughter of God? Yet in Catholicism they also believe that not only was Jesus the son of God but God himself (because God took apart of himself which became Jesus on earth). So actually God (as Mother Mary) concieved himself/herself which became Jesus and God (as John The Baptist) baptized Jesus(himself). Why don't you people follow the bible fully? Also The angel (Gabriel?) said name your son Emanuel (God is with us) instead they named him Jesus/Joshua (Jehovah is 'generous' or 'saves'). can someone explain this?

Atheists, please see Qs at ***
Theists, please read below:

If you believe that hard times are coming (war, impacts of global warming, social destabilisation, etc) do you believe that God will protect you?

I do. I believe he will lead me by his Spirit to places of safety. He also protects me by prompting me to be prepared for whatever may come... eg food & water storage, home-gardening, etc.

***If you don't believe in God, do you believe that hard times are ahead? Do you believe that the government will make sure everything is alright? Or do you believe in being prepared for what may lie ahead and, if yes, what do you do to prepare?

What are we all doing to prepare for our futures?

In relation to the Bible controversy of Gang Rapes in Number 31, a question erupts hitherto totally forgotten, and, that is, that the Gang Rapes of 32,000 virgin baby girls were done intentionally, not only to release tension from God's soldiers, but, were in fact for specific predetermined reasons: To strike FEAR and TERROR through the neighbourhood. Soon the surrounding people would know about the coward, ghastly acts done by the Jews in the name of their God Jehovah. This would facilitate in the Jews' stealing of land, well knowing that such Gang Rapes done under God's command would make an easy task to conquer the land. We have not only Palestine as an example, there are many others. Hence, how can these Scriptures have anything to do with a happy marriage? Can others fill in the blanks.

Nothing scares me more than organized religion. I have my beliefs but I keep them to myself. Organized religion is the devil's work. Most wars (since before Christ) have had some sort of religious ties. The muslim extremist today are spreading fear and death because of their religious beliefs.

So my question is:

How could we disrupt the growth of religion and religious fanatics?

I'm thinking we could provide the entire Mid-East with free cable TV (with all the movie and adult channels). Maybe that would help? Be cheaper and less deadly than the war we are currently fighting.

Complaints made in 1983 were ignored, in 2001 the church ignored complaints again but police informed. Church cover up (no surprise). Finally in Winchester crown court he gets only 5 years for 30 years of abuse to young boys. Do you agree that if any church is seen to be involved in a cover up, the church authorities should be jailed as well? I'm so pleased I don't attend church.

I have been told that the women still lives at home due to disablities. Any ways her father has for bid her to see this man ,but she goes behind her fathers back and does it anyways. Can the father put a stop to her seeing this man, and if so how? The father also told the man if he continues to see her that he will kill him. I don't think this man should be seeing her cause he uses people.
