There is not only one...there are many sutras that many buddhists will refer to.

Zen Buddists, on the other hand, may just burn all the books and go without...because what the Buddhist wants can not be found in a book.

I read some books by Buddhist writers about doctrine and then I read lots of things, cookbooks, gardening books, books about health, and once in a while, a funny book.

I read a LOT of books... if you're asking about books about Buddhist philosophy, there are many within what we call the kangyur and tengyur... teachings of the Buddha and commentaries.
