Yes the feeling of being degraded is much the same.
I can tell you this from experience.
When a christian preaches their bigoted rubbish to me i feel as though they are telling me i and my belief system are worthless, therefore i feel degraded. Much like rape.
I feel like i am being abused all over again.
I think it should be classed as abuse.
I don't think you realised when you posted this, just how true it is!
Good question!

Please don't get me wrong with this, I am not anti faith in any way. I wouldn't say date-rape nor just Christianity, all faiths are guilty of preaching in an unorthodox way. Personally i think brainwashing your young to believe that there is one invisible man in the sky and one invisible man underground who watch every move you make is a way of control through fear and blackmail rather than giving a sense of hope in your hour of need. In this day and age everyone should be entitled to make their own decisions and and come to think of it, shouldn't human rights have something to say about how children should be shown all faiths in an informative and unbiased manner before they decide which, if any, they would like to believe, isn't preaching one religion as the only true religion and renouncing all others a form of persicution? Instilling Gods almighty wrath if you do not conform into children is not really fair either.
Here's a question, by preaching to children who, at an early age, are just beginning to learn from watching others around them, and this is a big part of how they form their own characters and opinions, are you somehow taking away their rights to freedom of thought and speech, also is it not against new diversity policies and legislation for a church to welcome only one religion and in so, showing contempt to others?
I think that faith is often used as a crutch for the weak minded or the desperate, it is open to far too much abuse by those in power and if you look back through history is one of the main causes of war and terrorism in the world.
Religion was a good idea but in many areas has failed to achieve its true purpose as a guide on living a peaceful and good life, thou shalt not kill, etc have been blatantly ignored throughout history by those who profess to be following their Gods wishes.
Personally I couldn't care less what people believe, everyone is an individual and will form their own opinion and will have their own reasons and beliefs, individuality is what makes the human race more than just the same old flesh and blood. Just because you don't share the same religion doesn't mean you have to be sworn enemies, you wouldn't do it on say your choice of carpet and what your neighbour thinks you should have gotten.
It does make you wonder if the Pagans had it sussed in the beginning though? Maybe they did, its worth investigating.

You can say it's spiritual rape although no other religion goes around proselytizing.

well, not QUITE. At least when they start to rape you with their religious c**p, you can put fingers in your ears and go NA NA NA I CAN'T HEAR YOU NA NA NA!!!
But in it's core it's equally rude and intruding into privacy, yes.
