If you believe that hard times are coming (war, impacts of global warming, social destabilisation, etc) do you believe that God will protect you?

I do. I believe he will lead me by his Spirit to places of safety. He also protects me by prompting me to be prepared for whatever may come... eg food & water storage, home-gardening, etc.

***If you don't believe in God, do you believe that hard times are ahead? Do you believe that the government will make sure everything is alright? Or do you believe in being prepared for what may lie ahead and, if yes, what do you do to prepare?

What are we all doing to prepare for our futures?

By "hard times" I am referring to any difficulties in life, both spiritual and physical.

Just seeking opinions, peoples. I want to know what other people do to feel secure about the future.

"If ye are prepared, ye shall not fear." I can't remember where that quote is from, but it is one that I live my life by. The more I prepare for what may happen, the more I can focus on what's important, because I can feel secure about my physical future and that of my children.

Thank-you everyone for giving me some new perspectives to think upon, some of which have helped me in my faith.

I believe that I need to live each day to the fullest, and do what I can to help my part of the world.

I try not to worry about the future, because I can't change the world, only my little corner of it. I try to be informed about the things going on around me, and what I can do to contribute.

It's pointless to worry about things that are beyond my control, so I focus on the things that are, and enjoy every moment I can.

I believe God will protect me.He gives me the intelligence what to do. Such as where to live, etc. I feel as He guides me I will be ready for whatever will happen. If we are praying to be guided and we stay conscious of what to do He guides us at every step. Actually the material world is a very dangerous place. We need to take shelter of God.(Also known as Krishna Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc.) This world is called Maya (illusion) and is temporary and full of miserable conditions. And when it is time for us to leave this world, then He has made all arrangements for that. We should try to be prayerful all the time. Not in fear, but in service then we will always be protected.

Prepare if you want, who knows what may happen tomorrow. The truth is that the only life is now. Try not to worry, be present. Jon C answered one of my questions the other day and put in some prose by Rumi, Out beyond the understanding of good and bad there is a field, I'll meet you there. ~ : )

If you don't believe in God, do you believe that hard times are ahead?
Unless you describe "hard times" in detail, no one will know. For one person, hard times could be breaking a nail, while for another person, their house exploding into a giant ball of flame.

Do you believe that the government will make sure everything is alright?
Hell no! Have you seen our president? He's a complete idiot and thinks that he's a prophet! He once said, "God told me to run for president. I know it won't be easy for me or my family, but God wants me to do it."

Or do you believe in being prepared for what may lie ahead?
Yes

If yes, what do you do to prepare?
I just make sure I carry five things on me at all times: my mind, my laptop, my iPod, my manga, and my witty commentary.

Myself, I plan on getting in a good, brisk eight hours of sleep.

PS- Don't ever trust the government to "make sure everything is alright". Government and trust logically do not , cannot, belong in the same sentence.

I believe that worrying is the most wasteful way to spend your limited time in life. Nothing good comes out of worrying. Take action when you feel you need to and there is nothing to worry about. I hate the concept of worrying. People can drive themselves crazy worrying and like I said before, nothing productive becomes of it. Worry = Death. If you are worried than you ain't livin' hun.

Hard times are perpetual. They never end. What we do is live now instead of banking on tomorrow. Enjoy today and be the best you can be, always. How else can you prepare for the unknown?

"Hard times" are all around us, the government is screwing things up worse and nothing much worse can possibly lie ahead short of a terrorist attack, in which I use common sense, but I don't WORRY about it. What's more important, short of common sense, is cultivating a calm mind NOW.

Do you live in a compound in Idaho? You sound like one of those anti-government skin heads.

No, I don't think that God will save me. It is up to us to save ourselves. The first step is to get a Democrat or Independent in the White House.

I believe that He protects me and nothing will happen to me that shouldn't. I believe that at times when something that appears to be unfortunate is actually a blessing in disguise for me and someone else. When Saul had his fellow classmate[Stephen] killed for following Christ, Saul witnessed this and ironically Stephen's cloak was laid at Saul's feet. Not long after that Christ appeared to Saul who then became Paul.
