I believe every man has a destiny and does what he can until his destiny is revealed. I live my life with morals and enjoy the ups and downs. There is plenty of time to love God when I meet him. Until then, I'm enjoying myself without hurting others. Is this wrong?

I think Jung thought so. The reason I ask,I once worked with a mentally-handicapped man who had contructed his own religion around Hulk Hogan. I'm not joking - he really did. He prayed to Hulk every night below a big poster of Him and then lit a candle, bowed three times - never more - then blew out the candle and went to bed, murmering "Hulk Hogan Hulk Hogan" like a mantra or a Hail Mary. All the basic elements of belief and worship were there and he actually came up with all this on his own. This was at a group home,so he was incessantly trying to recruit members, including me. I never joined. But the point is,does a thing like that indicate merely that people are prone to inventing God or is the need to worship a personified ideal - higher than oneself - intrinsic to human nature,in which it's valid irrespective of objective truth,as Jung pointed out. Opinions?

Some religions practice a form of "discipline" that amounts to treating a person as if they were essentially dead. Call it what you will -"disfellowshipping," "excommunication," "shunning" - it can mean blocking a person from your life. I have a dear uncle who is married to someone who practices one of these religions. I've just learned he's very ill and in the hospital. To make sure he's given my get-well card, I sent it from another city and had a friend address it so that my aunt didn't recognize my handwriting. She has not spoken to me for the past five years because I quit that religion. When my uncle dies, I will go to his funeral if they have one. My aunt probably won't speak to me. (I would go to her funeral too.) How do you feel about this?

It's not a religion or creed in it's own right,so there is nothing purportedly "sacred" about it. I would think they could care less how it is spelled. And I can think of any number of grammatically incorrect versions. Anyway people are always reversing i and e. We could do worse, you know. How about athyeaism? Athaissum? Gee,we could actually have some fun with this - maybe even a contest!

What if someone told you "You can never have sex with girls/boys". Wouldn't you be angry? It's YOUR NATURE. IT IS NATURE! If god created us all, didn't he create gays to be gay? Or if he's against it? Is he against nature? Which he created apparently...It;s 100% natural...Why can't they be how they are...how does it affect you...bet you wouldn't like it if someone told you you can't have sex with your partner.

My in laws said it would be sinful for me to be a surrogate mother, because that is what the Catholic church teaches. They said the problem is that it involves in vitro fertilization. Why do they say that's a sin? What's wrong with helping infertile couples have children?

Here's a serious question:

WHICH WOULD YOU PREFER,
a black, male president - OR
a white, female president?

I'm so glad to see that America has come this far. I never thought I'd see the day where a black man, and a woman were favored candidates for presidency. What are your reasonings for your choice?

I am seriously inquiring because the scene was upsetting to my family but I question first if this is a 'new' social trend and I am experiencing it for the first time.

Should or does a member of extended family: An uncle of the deceased, bring into the service their own minister?

The uncle wasn't involved in the deceased life, though he is socially at a higher income level. The uncle brought the minister to the seated attendants and introduced his pastor to each one of them.
The deceased family had a service with their own minister and it was nicely orchestrated.

I have negative feelings about it as I was singled out to be introduced to a minister that I wasn't really interested in meeting, as well as the Uncle seemed to be putting on eirs to me. Was I ignorant to something new?
Educate me.

Let's assume I believe in Mithras. I'm fully certain that Mithras is my Lord and Savior. How on earth should I not feel insulted in my beliefs when somebody tells me he "will pray for me to find Christ"?

And on the same note, if "I will pray you'll find Jesus", isn't an insult to religious freedom, why is "I hope you will lose your faith in Jesus really soon" concidered disrespectfull all of a sudden?

Are they like the only religions in the USA. Up here most people are lutherans. Thank goodness no one talks about them. But, there are a lot of Jehovah's Witnesses.
In the south are there more of them? I mean where are they from. My friend went to Mexico and said they are all witnesses in Mexico.
