AT MATTHEW 4:1, Jesus is spoken of as being "tempted by the Devil." After showing Jesus "all the kingdoms of the world and their glory," Satan said: "All these things I will give you if you fall down and do an act of worship to me." (Matthew 4:8, 9) Satan was trying to cause Jesus to be disloyal to God.

But what test of loyalty would that be if Jesus were God? Could God rebel against himself? No, but angels and humans could rebel against God and did. The temptation of Jesus would make sense only if he was, not God, but a separate individual who had his own free will, one who could have been disloyal had he chosen to be, such as an angel or a human.

On the other hand, it is unimaginable that God could sin and be disloyal to himself. "Perfect is his activity . . . A God of faithfulness, . . . righteous and upright is he." (Deuteronomy 32:4) So if Jesus had been God, he could not have been tempted.—James 1:13.

Not being God, Jesus could have been disloyal. But he remained faithful, saying: "Go away, Satan! For it is written, 'It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.'"—Matthew 4:10.

Jesus, like all of God's intelligent creation, had free will. Hebrews 4:14-15 shows that Jesus was tempted or tested just as we are. That a perfect man could sin we know from what happened with Adam. Jesus was the last Adam. (1Corinthians 15:45) He provided redemption from sin for us by offering his perfect human body as a sacrifice to God, thus satisfying God's justice.(Exodus 21:22-24)

Boy, do a lot of people completely miss the point of the question. All they see is Jehovah's Witness and their minds flap shut.

Jesus was not a puppet or automaton.

His moves were not controlled or manipulated.

His choices were not controlled or manipulated.

He made an informed choice to serve his Father.

You don't make that choice unless you also have the ability to chose not to do something. As such, Jesus could have made the choice to sin and fail in his mission, but he didn't. He made the right choice for himself and for all of us.

Now, the question is what are the choices you are making in your life? Do you chose to sin simply because you can, figuring that because Jesus die for your sins, so it's okay, or do you follow his example to make an informed choice to serve God in all things and avoid willful sin?

Jehovah's Witnesses do not question the willpower and faithfulness of Jesus Christ, but they do acknowledge that Jesus had and has "free will", as all intelligent creatures do.

Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians; they teach that Christ was and is divine and of the same nature as God.

Jehovah's Witnesses teach that no salvation occurs without Christ, that accepting Christ's sacrifice is a requirement for true worship, that every prayer must acknowledge Christ, that Christ is the King of God's Kingdom, that Christ is the head of the Christian congregation, that Christ is immortal and above every creature, even that Christ was the 'master worker' in creating the universe!

Jehovah's Witnesses love and respect and honor Christ. However, Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the Scriptures quite plainly demonstrate that Jesus and the Almighty are separate distinct persons, and the Almighty created Jesus as His firstborn son.

(Colossians 1:15) the firstborn of all creation

(Mark 10:18) Jesus said to him: 'Why do you call me good? Nobody is good, except one, God.

(Revelation 3:14) the Amen says, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation by God

(Philippians 2:5-6) Christ Jesus, who, although he was existing in God's form, gave no consideration to a seizure, namely, that he should be equal to God

(John 8:42) Neither have I come of my own initiative at all, but that One sent me forth

(John 12:49) I have not spoken out of my own impulse, but the Father himself who sent me has given me a commandment as to what to tell and what to speak

(John 14:28) I am going my way to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am

(1 Corinthians 15:28) But when all things will have been subjected to him, then the Son himself will also subject himself to the One who subjected all things to him

(Matthew 20:23) this sitting down at my right hand and at my left is not mine to give, but it belongs to those for whom it has been prepared by my Father

(1 Corinthians 11:3) I want you to know that the head of every man is the Christ; ...in turn the head of the Christ is God

(John 20:17) I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God.

(Deuteronomy 6:4) Jehovah our God is one Jehovah

(1 Corinthians 8:4-6) There is no God but one. For even though there are those who are called "gods," whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many "gods" and many "lords," there is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him

Thanks again for an opportunity to share what the bible actually says about the distinct persons of Jesus Christ the Son and Jehovah God the Father!

The NT tells us of Jesus 'obedience'. It was essential for our salvation. Jesus had free will, he chose to be obedient otherwise it would be meaningless to say he was obedient.

Romans 5:18-21 says:
So, then, as through one trespass the result to men of all sorts was condemnation, likewise also through one act of justification the result to men of all sorts is a declaring of them righteous for life. 19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man many were constituted sinners, likewise also through the obedience of the one [person] many will be constituted righteous. 20 Now the Law came in beside in order that trespassing might abound. But where sin abounded, undeserved kindness abounded still more. 21 To what end? That, just as sin ruled as king with death, likewise also undeserved kindness might rule as king through righteousness with everlasting life in view through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Notice: through the OBEDIENCE of the one [person] many will be constituted righteous.

Jehovah's Witnesses believe Jesus love for his Father effectively made disobedience impossible for him. Still he had the capacity to make his own choice. Even as a perfect man Jesus felt pressure in following the course of perfect obedience and prayed to his Father for strength at times.

The first man Adam was perfect, still he chose a course of disobedience and sinned.

Well as any Christian knows Jesus had freewill, there fore he could have decided not to serve his Father's wishes.

Im pretty sure JWs think he wasnt supposed to be crucified.

BUT, I understand that we all have 52 chromosomes that make our up our genetic structure. 26 from our mother and 26 from our fathers. Since sin is passed down through the male we are all infected with sin. But because Jesus did not have a human father and sin is not passed on through the mother and His mother was a virgin.....Isaiah 7:14 and Luke 1:34&35 Jesus was sinless.

It is impossible for a person who is in great debt and helpless to pay that debt..... to pay the enormous debt of another. Much less the world. So Jesus had to have a sinless character in order to save us from the penalty of our own debt. And so He was. 2Corithians 5:21 As alluded to above... that sinless character gave Jesus the ability to pay our debt.

This is the logical result of errors in the theology of the boys from Brooklyn.

They haven't yet learned to successfully translate Greek, and they haven't yet learned that Jesus Christ is God, and so cannot commit sin.
