I'm seriously considering becoming a wiccan. The wicca religion really interests me and so many of the beliefs, ethics, and practices make sense to me. I've been doing much research online and will ne heading to the bookstore as soon as I've got some spending money. So I would really jsut like to see how many true wiccans are out there. If you're in the broom closet and are reading this i would apreciate knowing you're out there, but I would never want to ask you to do anything that you feel would be wrong. Thank you everybody!

Have you guys seen this?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070427/ap_on_re_us/civil_unions_robinson

An Episcopalian minister is going to get in a gay civil union? Isn't this in DIRECT violation of the Bible? After all, what about the passage
"If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination." ???

I mean, homosexuality is not a sin, but homosexual sex IS a sin. So since this guy is going in direct violation of the Bible's teachings, will he get removed as a minister?

What's the deal here?

Ok, a user named Lucy44 just posted this in a separate question:
"I don't believe in jehovah's witnessess. I'm sorry,
because their belief is strange, weird. Such as having more than one wife, drinking ice tea is against their religion, I don't know why? and they don't drink any kind of sodas. They believe a woman is suppose to wear skirts and dresses all the time. And if you write with a red pen, they believe it's the devils pen your writing with, because it bleeds. Now, isn't all this so stupid?
That's why I don't believe in jehovah's witnessess.
They take religion too far to the extreme. They
over do it.Don't get me wrong, I do believe in God
and Jesus Christ and I have faith in both, but
Jehovah's Witnessess is rediculous"

That's Mormons, not us!
NONE OF THESE ARE APPLICABLE TO WITNESSES!!!
Not a single one of these assertions are correct- in fact, I have a red pen sitting on my desk right now!!

Why don't people ask for confirmation before stating rumours as fact?

New Hampshire just passed civil unions. And a bill to legalize gay marriage is being introduced in New York.

Once either NY or Cali legalizes gay marriage, it's all over but the shouting. The other big blue states will fall in line, one by one. And once the big blue boys legalize it the game's over, there will be too much momentum.

Actually, the battle against gay marriage was lost when the Supreme Court struck down anti-sodomy statutes as unconstitutional in Lawrence v. Texas. Even Justice Scalia admitted in his crybaby dissent that there was no longer a valid obstacle to the legalization of gay marriage.

Opposing gay marriage is an exercise in eventual futility. So why don't you Christians who oppose it just stop wasting time and energy which could be better spent on something that's actually productive and good for the world?

This is awesome! It was contributed by creatrix...

"Edit: Oh irony of ironies! That MSNBC article I quoted below has a link on it (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15750604/)... about a museum exhibit that focuses on gay animals... and in it, under a picture of two GIRAFFES, it says "Scientists say that homosexual activity among giraffes is, in many cases, more common than heterosexual activity." So *that's* why the giraffe is so damned giggly!"

Go ahead.....by all means!

-I admit that I do not spend enough time with my kids one on one, and I should!
-I admit that I can lose track of time when I am in this section
-I admit that admitting our admittance is admittable.

Prejudice is wrong, no matter who it is aimed at. Gay people getting married, having familes, adopting children (who will be brought up healthier and happier than most in heterosexual families -- do a little research and find out) has zero effect on marriage, on heterosexuals, on religion, on anything for that matter. Yet, here we are again with Bush pushing this nonsense to the forefront to distract folks in our country from the real issues.

.......Creator of ALL that there is. Yes?

I mean why else would people spend SO much time chasin' after and cursin' a God "THAT'S DOESN'T EVEN EXIST"
You ever see a dog chase his own tail?
You ever see a child that doesn't have something -AND DOESN'T WANT ANYBODY ELSE TO HAVE ANYTHING EITHER?
You seem to fell SO left out.
Day in and day out, spewing out silly little quibbles and bits of endlessof nonsense.
I mean it's like poor posessed souls chained to beds eternally: spittin' and cursin' at whoever walks in the room.
(I mean there's some really HOSTILE little ducks on here.)
I pray for all that are tormented by this demented spirit

God has revealed Himself to everyone. There IS hope.

Many Christians have stated this "If you break one law, you have broken them all" Yet seem bent on pointing out only certain "sins" of others.... such as Homosexuality. So based on this line of reasoning.... if you lie, you have committed a Homosexual act? If you steal? If they are all considered one and the same, how do you accept the fact that any sin a Heterosexual commits would be viewed by your God as the exact same thing as commiting a Homosexual act?

I have just skimmed through some of the questions here on faith and religion. I wish I could understand why some of you folks are so forceful and angry. Are you guys mad at 'christians' or all folks of any religion at all? Just wow. I hope you can really tell me for real why!
thanks in advance!

I'm new to this here. Thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a agnostic, I like things that are cool and hate things that suck. I'm a Gemini and my favorite color is clear. And I'm Bettierages personal yahoo servant. I guess I'll ask a question here as well. Do you think Athiest are harder on Christians then Muslims? Both are dogmatic religions, is it just me or do you see them taking it easier on the Muslims?

It is so hard to get your head around. God existed before creation right? So how could he have existed before everything began. Right so go back a billion billion years to the power of 10 and keep doing it and keep doing it and He was still there in existence at the start of negative infinity. And please dont quote Genises as this wont answer the question I am putting to you!Genisis just says God was always there. I'm asking how is that possible?

Jesus, crucified on the cross, prays to God and asks him to forgive those people who are killing him "they know not what they do". Yet some of his own followers can't seem to forgive those who don't believe in Christianity, or those who commit a certain "sin" they do not like. Why is that? If you can't forgive that, how are you to be forgiven?

*Thanks to Vlad for his earlier question... it's what made me think of this after reading some of the ridiculous posts I have seen lately*

Matthew 7:4
Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when there is the log in your own eye?

Just a reminder, we all need to check that log in our own eye before we cast a stone at someone else. I notice this happens A LOT on yahoo. I too pray that I will never speak before I think.

When did the fundamentalist Christians begin gaining popularity and power? An example - the 700 club. When did they begin gaining followers? Why do you think fundamentalist churchs are so popular? Do you think that their popularity is fad-like and will fade with time?
