An Episcopalian minister is going to get in a gay civil union? Isn't this in DIRECT violation of the Bible? After all, what about the passage
"If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination." ???

I mean, homosexuality is not a sin, but homosexual sex IS a sin. So since this guy is going in direct violation of the Bible's teachings, will he get removed as a minister?

What's the deal here?

He's a bishop and a pretty high-ranking member of the Episcopalian church.

One of the reasons why converting to Roman Catholicism wasn't that difficult.

If he's a guy of God he would desire to comprehend right here verses: a million Corinthians 5:11 yet now i'm writing you you will desire to no longer affiliate with every physique who calls himself a brother yet is sexually immoral or grasping, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With certainly one of those guy do no longer even consume. a million Corinthians 6:9 Do you no longer comprehend that the depraved won't inherit the dominion of God? don't be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor gay offenders. Ephesians 5:3 yet between you there should not be even a splash of sexual immorality, or of any style of impurity, or of greed, simply by fact those are mistaken for God's holy human beings. Jude a million:7 in a matching way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the encircling cities gave themselves as much as sexual immorality and perversion. They functionality an occasion of people who go through the punishment of eternal hearth.

I am an Episcopalian with a gay minister. If he wanted to get married I would support him 100%. One of the things that we Apostolics are big on is love/tolerance. That ministers actions may go against an OT passage but we focus on NT teachings. We believe that the message is more important than the written word.

If he is a homosexual, then he is no minister of Christianity. All you liberal bubble-heads say what you will. He could be a gay man cloaked, or masqueraded as a minister, but there is NO such thing as a gay Christian, let alone a minister of a Christian faith that is gay. This man will burn in hell for deceiving people, and for perverting a church leader's office.
The saddest thing about this is that there are undoubtedly people that go to hear this abominable man preach the word of God, while living in direct violation of all that it stands for. This world is surely Satan's dominion.

If you live under Levitical law, I suppose you’re right. But you may want to spend a little time reading the rest of the Book of Leviticus before you cast stones. I mean, you wouldn’t want to condemn other people if you’re not properly carrying out animal sacrifices, now would you?

If the Bishop and his partner wish to make a commitment to each other, why would you want to stop them? Would you prefer if they just lived together in secret?

Get over it. If they love each other they should have as much right to commit to one another as anybody else.

The deal is that Protestants have hammered the Catholic church for the perversity of a small percentage of Priests and will want to keep this and other forthcoming incidents as quiet as possible.
The bottom line is that Priests do not become perverts but perverts can and do become Priests, and they are going to find this out sooner or later.

Yes I did. Life just gets weirder every day. That is pushing the envelope I think. The catholics don't allow women priests... but have more than their share of perversion. I wonder how long it will be when we get a gay president...or pope.

The Bible also says you should sacrifice goats. When was the last time you sacrificed a goat?

I love how you all pick and choose which verses to abide by. Shall we look at some other verses from Leviticus?

"For everyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother. His blood shall be upon him." (Leviticus 20:9) So we should kill anyone who has been disrespectful to their parents?

"If a man lies with a woman during her sickness and uncovers her nakedness, he has discovered her flow, and she has uncovered the flow of her blood. Both of them shall be cut off from her people." (Leviticus 20:18) So we should deport men and women who have sex while she is menstruating?

"Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property." (Leviticus 25:44-45) Oh yay! Slavery is ok because the Bible says so...

"Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard." (Leviticus 19:27) I'm guessing you've gotten a haircut...

"...and the swine, though it divides the hoof, having cloven hooves, yet does not chew the cud, is unclean to you." (Leviticus 11:7) There goes bacon!

"...do not plant your field with two kinds of seed. Do not wear material woven of two kinds of material." (Leviticus 19:19) There goes all poly/cotton blend clothing...

"But all in the seas or in the rivers that do not have fins and scales, all that move in the water or any living thing which is in the water, they are an abomination to you." (Leviticus 11:10)

"They (shellfish) shall be an abomination to you; you shall not eat their flesh, but you shall regard their carcasses as an abomination." (Leviticus 11:11)

"Whatever in the water does not have fins or scales; that shall be an abomination to you." (Leviticus 11:12) So much for lobster and shrimp.

All of these came from the very Chapter your original verse came from.... which is something those of you who have attacked me seemed to have missed. The OP used a verse from Leviticus, not the New Testament. I therefore responded with verses from the very book the OP was quoting. That is how one has an intelligent debate about a subject.

At least this guy is honest. Better than all the closeted preachers that are about condemning homosexuality.
