First, find some sort of common ground that all of you can relate to. The weather, the earth, nature, flowers, human body and its complexity, animals on earth, etc. He or she may not know God, but they are affected by crime, injustice, suffering, death of a loved one, unfair healthcare system, etc. Additionally, ask her what she belives in and go on from there. Get the person to talk. Listen to the Chinese person, then intervene when he or she is done. It may not be best to start the conversation with God. Perhaps in the middle toward the end. Use the Bible as your guide. Please, do not limit yourself to these scriptures that I will list. By the end of the conversation, it would be nice for he or she to know God's name because many who have read the Bible from cover to cover cannot answer that question.

God's name is Jehovah. (Psalm 83:18)
The scriptures is inspired of God. (1 Timothy 3:16, 17)
Why we are imperfect today? (Romans 5:12)

Hi Calla:)

Thank you so much for your pointed question. This is a problem that I and my friends face each time we go a-witnessing. I think that the key is 1 John 4, Philippians 4:4-13, and Matthew 22:36-40.

Let me give some personal info: I came to Christ because of how content other Christians were. Please notice that I used the word "content", not "happy". Before I knew Christ (in high school), I was happy, but I always longed for more: more money, more books, more education, a bigger house for my family, a bigger better car. Even though, I was headed to one of the best college's in the country (Duke University), even though I had great friends, a loving family, a roof over my head, and transportation if needed it, I was not content. Whenever I saw Christians, I marveled at their ability to be content no matter what their circumstances. Some were riche while others were so poor, they didn't even have enough money for food each day...yet they were content. That's when I gave myself to Christ; I needed His contentment to get me through college. His contentment still helps me today...and always will.

The question of why he makes me content segues into witnessing. I am content for two reasons (1) I love God totally with all my being (Matthew 22:36-37) and (2) I do my best to love everyone around me like I love myself. Relying on these two foci of life, I have nothing to worry about. I love God because He first loved me; therefore, I can ask Him for anything I NEED (not superficial wants), and He will give it to me at the right time (which is not always when I want it). Because God loves me so unconditionally, I model His approach by loving everyone I can with the same kind of unabashed love. As a result, I have so many people surrounding me that bless me with everything I need from love to rebuke to hugs to financial help to anything.

When we witness to people who do not know God, they need to see this warmth and affection. Why? Because this is Love, and that's the root of God: God is Love (1 John 4:8). When people see how disciples love others, then they see God at His greatest moment (1 John 4:12). People gravitate toward other people who love them.

That's the greatest witness of all. It's way way way more effective then telling someone that they are "going to hell" if they don't accept Jesus as their own personal savior. That part will eventually and tactfully be apparent, but we must draw people to us, not repel them. We can do that and still be truthful if we stick to Love.

Wonderful Question. I hope this helps you a little bit.

Have A Fantastic Day,
Reggie:)

the first part of your bearing witness to God is how you treat others in your daily life. Be kind, forgiving and treat others the way you wish to be treated.

Secondly, if this wonderful personality of yours stands out, people will ask you why you are so kind. This being said, you can tell them you are sharing the love that God has shown to you. Let the person ask questions, and if you do not know the answer, let them know you will do your best to find the answer for them.

Do not put pressure on yourself or on them to 'get saved' or anything like that, just share from the heart, pray for them, and trust God to bring understanding to the people he chooses.

The best way to tell someone about God is tell that person what God has done in your life.

Get permission from the person to talk about God. Once that person says yes its ok to tell me about God, then do that.

But, don't be discouraged if the person doesn't have an accepting heart right now or doesn't get all of it. It's ok....

Sometimes, we plant seeds and others harvest the crop. It's all for God's kingdom... go ahead, plant a seed...

Start by learning about the person... what is his current belief system... you do not need to learn all about that... but you need to know something about the person... establish a friendship... genuine... not just to "get to him"... if he is reseptive you will learn of it in your conversations with him... make your faith known to him within the conversations of other things... but do not "preach" at any time... just let it happen within the context of genuine friendship... if he is receptive gently proceed. but back off at the first sign of resistance... then continue the friendship and wait for another opportunity... be prepaired to answer any question but do not fake it... if you do not know, say so, and try to get the correct answer for him... be very personal... from your own experience...do not push The Bible... offer your own testimony and witness... why are you a Christian?... you need to know that firm... but not from The Book.... from your Heart.

if it is a man of Chinese culture there is not a good chance for a female to connect... another male would be best to do carry this on after you make the genuine contact...

Consider. What if you visited somewhere and the locals started telling you a story about invisible beings who controlled the universe and everything in it, beings you'd never heard of before? Seriously, how do you think you'd respond?

Now consider visiting a place where people act very differently than you expect, doing some odd things that don't seem necessary and refusing to do other things that you thought were quite natural, but they seem to get along very well, they take care of everyone and people are generally happy and problem-free. Might you be curious and ask questions? Then if they told you it was because of their belief in the laws of a supernatural being, would you be more inclined to consider their ideas, in light of the demonstration?

Actions teach better than words. (You also might contemplate what YOU could learn from THEM.)

Should be simple. Just convince him/her that there is an invisible man in the sky who loves him/her and will condemn him/her to eternal suffering for failure to believe.

Next, use ancient books written by primitive men to back up your argument for this invisible deity.

Next, claim that everyone who asserts through scientific evidence that the earth is millions of years old has an anti-God agenda.

Next, throw in Jesus's famous statement, “Happy are those who have not seen yet still believe." That way, the lack of evidence will be seen as evidence.

Additionally, present the idea that God has a "plan." This piece is crucial, because your friend will quickly wonder why God doesn't answer prayers that are in unambiguous situations, like asking for an amputees limb to be grown back. Of course, feel free to provide numerous examples of God performing "miracles" in ambiguous situations, like recovering cancer patients.

Lastly, try to steer your friend away from the various scriptures that illustrate how God is consistently governed by human emotions (jealousy, wrath, suspicion, and the lust to dominate) because your friend might soon question why the creator of the earth and all things in it also created smallpox, AIDS, and the plague. If you follow this plan, I think you'll make your friend a believer in no time.

I'm guessing that what you meant is that they have not learned about how you see "God". As far as I recall, the Chinese have a firm grasp on the concept of "God".

I would not assume that this person wants or needs to know about your "God"

Try this, live your life according to the teachings of Jesus, if your friend seems to think this is a good life path, they will ask YOU.

[ Calla N......... LOOK HERE! AND READ! ]

I would direct [them] to the book I Cor.13
where it shows us the supernatural gifts from God,
And that [they] should practice on discerning how to notice these gifts, and make sure [they] understand that God is invisible...

Then if [they] want to ask him something [they] don't have to say it, because he was the only one that could read their minds, sometimes Jesus shares this gift with us... and when people have this gift: they rarely attribute that to Jesus...

And he is the only one who could read the minds of the disciples, John 16:30

Then I would say! I adjure thee by the living God/! make yourself known to me, Jesus Christ! gggrrr.

Then listen for his voice, and if he will not answer you, then stay where you are, and do not leave until he answers you by a sign or sumthin...

If this doesn't convince God that you really want him to talk to you then perform a miracle :)
