Religion & Spirituality - 26 April 2007

Why do you feel the need to constantly point out the flaws of religion? Why can't you let us theists be? Don't you know that it has nothing to do with facts or believing? It has to do with desire. This is what I want to believe because it fits my needs and wants, and if I have to fight for this world I will do so, with voilence if need be. We don't care if it makes sense or if its rational, as long as it makes us feel special and gives us a sense of purpose in an uncertain world I will follow it blindly. So stop trying to change me with your logic and common sense. Even if you present the truth in a way I can understand, I will not listen. Ignorance is bliss and I am quite happy believing that my god loves me and hates everyone else.

Many fundamentalist muslims believe that they'll be served by some sexy virgins in heaven and each of them will get chance having sex in every possible way throughout eternity.

They explained me such concept, isn't that exciting and beautiful place as ever?

And aren`t there times when the unthinkable is called for?

I know when I interviewed Alfred Hitchcock back in 1972 we were talking about `Torn Curtain` and Hitch was saying how difficult it is actually to kill someone....to stick their head in an oven.

I asked if the film allusion referred to Auschwitz? and Hitch said that it did.

He finished off with, `And let`s see how THEY would like it`.

I was raised as a JW and baptised. I used to pioneer. SEveral years ago I simply stopped attending meetings. I lead a wholesome life. I have broken no rules. I am not disphellowshipped nor did I disassociate myself. Yet I am shunned. I've been yelled at in the supermarket by people I once considered close friends.

Why? Is there scriptual backing for that? Shouldn't I have been invited to the memorial at least once in the last 4 years? Shouldn't the elders have at least contacted me? Why am I being shunned?

Abortion is murder. To get an abortion is to not be a true Christian. What part of "thou shalt not kill" don't you understand?

Adults who are not Christian will go to Hell forever when they die. If you commit an abortion, even if you have accepted Jesus as your savior, you are not a true Christian and you will burn FOREVER.

The name of god (the christian god) is given in the earlier forms of the bible as YAHWEH. (the vowels are added in for english phonectic translation). This translates to JEHOVAH in greek.

There have been many historical uses of the name from saliors during the middle ages through to the 17-18th century to Roman texts that use the latin derivitive. Most famiously of recent times is the use in the movie Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, in which the hero needs to cross the pit with all the letters using the name of god.

However it seems that for most people this information is not known, they simply believe that the name of god in LORD (in caps due to the fact the jesus is also refered to as lord however in lower case) or GOD.

So my question is, why is gods name not used in either form YAHWEH or JEHOVAH and why is this so?

1-gods dont pray to an other god
2-humans cant kill , harm a god in any way
3-gods supposed to know everything including when the last hour will be

I hear everyday from Christians that God is Almighty and Fair. Is He fair when he decided to give His "children" in Africa Malaria, AIDS, and all forms of deadly illnesses even before they were born? Is it fair of Him that He let His "children" in Vietnam be born with no father, and the mother dying right after giving birth, making the child an orphan? Is it fair of him to wipe out HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE in Indonesia and the other South Asian countries just to prove his Might and for people to give him Glory?

If there is, whoever wrote the book (i forget) where there are like 2 pages of "so and so" begat "so and so" was being lazy. I wish there were more info about all those people. Maybe he wasn't as skilled as the others. lol.
