Shouldn't we be teaching that war is terrible?

Doesn't thinking about evolution just make the world so much more complex and amazing? What is wrong with recognizing that?

Is it that they are just looking to antagonize Christians? When we are asking a religious question we aren't seeking answers from those who know nothing about Christianity. Don't you believe that they should answer questions from other atheists not Christians?

Why do you wear crosses around your neck? Why do you worship the thing that brought about the physical destruction of your god incarnate? I think of it this way: If my mother surprised a burglarer in our home and in order to save the rest of us she sacrificed herself and the intruder killed her with a knife, there's no way I would wear symbols of a knife around my neck. I would, instead, wear something that was special to her. Like my mom's birthstone, or something like that. So, what is your reason for wearing a cross around your neck?

Today 33 people got shot at a school. I've already seen a number of posts, in which people try to win souls for their side.

If you really want to use this tragedy, I beg you to do that in an answer to this question here. I'm not that easily offended, so go ahead.

But after that, can we please try, at least for a day, to not be so utterly disgusting to use this huge tragedy in your own favor?

Thanks in advance.

Exodus 4:10 And Moses said unto the LORD, O my LORD, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. (11) And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?

RIGHT HERE god brags about making blind and dumb people. Why would some of you in an earlier question deny that he plagues children with cancer? He clearly makes them blind and dumb, according to the bible.

And THEN forbids the disabled people he makes from worshiping at the altar! YAY!

Lev.21:17-23 Whosoever ... hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God. For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous, Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish...

Don't u think that's messed up?

Like the posts today about the University shooter, or televangelist remarks about New Orleans or Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell's remarks after 9/11?

I think it shows what their real motives are. Fear, lies and cheap underhanded tactics are their stock in trade.

I don't care about your denomination -- let us all stand together and ask God to bless those who have died and to take them to Heaven. Let us all ask God to give comfort to those who suffer with grief tonight. Let us all pray for the forgiveness of the sinner who took so many.

that has kept YOU convinced of your beliefs?

For example, I maintain my religious beliefs based on my ideals of justice. I have atheist friends who base their atheism on lack of concrete evidence.

What keeps YOU believing or what has convinced you otherwise?

"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?" - Epicurus

Religion has been used to support, justify and protect almost every violent or repressive movement in history. Millions of people have died in wars, crusades, inquisitions, witch hunts and other murderous acts attributable to religion.

If God loves everyone and is a forgiving God, how could he send some people to hell for eternity?

The religious right want to control how you live your life. Based on the word of their "God," many religious people try to pass laws that limit your personal freedom.

Many religious people teach other people to have low self-esteem: you can't do anything without God and anything you accomplish, you didn't actually accomplish, God did it.

There is no scientific evidence to support a god or gods.
