Today 33 people got shot at a school. I've already seen a number of posts, in which people try to win souls for their side.

If you really want to use this tragedy, I beg you to do that in an answer to this question here. I'm not that easily offended, so go ahead.

But after that, can we please try, at least for a day, to not be so utterly disgusting to use this huge tragedy in your own favor?

Thanks in advance.

When I saw the news this morning, I was worried this may be a problem.

Thank you for addressing it so tactfully.

Some of the questions I understand,I'm a asshole but not that much of an asshole. Some just can't get their heads around someone shooting 33 people,as a hard line realist I guess I can and just have to allow the others to try and figure it out. But when people start using it like a propaganda tool I seriously want to hurt someone, whether it's the people basically gleefully stating it happened because of a lack of religion in society or if it's the people in other forums basically saying "see 20,000 gun laws aren't enough" It doesn't matter what their agenda is,when I see people exploit a tragedy to feed their own agenda I quite seriously want to throw them out a window.

This was really a tragedy. WHY this kind of things happen?? People are not using their free will right.

If there is not God and one asks WHY, to whom they are directing it to. Why there are starving children in Africa when God ( or Universe ) has provided enough of resources to feed everyone here.We have a huge distribution problem. Corruption. Selfishness.

If this all is without purpose, and by change...just the survival of the fittest..then these people were not just fit enough to survive??? We all die one way or another. Mortality is 100 %. We can blame God..or we have the Universe to blame. But if it is the Universe, WHY does not have a big meaning. Once you remove God you give up the right to ask the "why" question about anything.

Because without God, evil, as a category does not exist. Without God, there is no such thing as evil. If there is no God, there is no purpose, meaning or reason for anything. This all just happens. And we are left with human opinions about everything, some good some bad.

Hunger is not God's fault. He has provided more than enough food! Hunger is a result of man's intent upon self-aggrandizement.

We were made to love God and to enter into intimacy with Him. Love requires free will. Free will opens the door to evil, even though God wrote His Moral Law into our hearts to protect us..from ourseves and from each other.

Does God give us freedom and then sit on His hands when evil occurs?? NO. Until our love for people is greater than corruption in this world, children will continue to die by malnourishment. Until our love for each other is greater than the corruption of our hearts, people will die in a result of fellow human being's crime.

God waits on human partners to work with God to achieve his purposes. World vision has been one of God's best partners, helping to bring peace and reconciliation to so many parts of God's hurting world.

The world is not waiting a new definion of Christianity/Islam/Buddhism/Agnosticsm/Atheistsm/Humanity etc..it is waiting for a new demonstation of the goodnes of human heart. We have a free will, we need to use it wisely.

Good question, BTW

I have known tragedy but nothing compared to this. I know how hard it is for those simple words "I'm sorry" to reach the mind and touch the heart.
To stand by them and with them will let them see they are not alone and later this may help them release their grief. It took me ages.

Thank you for pointing out this disgusting practice, carried on by the same "Christians" who say they care!
People who exploit the pain and anguish these families are feeling--simply to further their RELIGION and put more money in their own pockets are disgusting.
This is a time to think and heal--and put away your own SELFISHNESS and hunger for publicity!

Thank *you* for posting this.

Pray if you pray, to whatever God you worship. I'm sure that God will also touch someone who was touched by this tragedy. But don't use it. Let it stand on its own for at least 24 hours. Let the spirits pass and the healing begin. Please.

I couldn't agree with you more. It's an atrocity to use such a tragedy as a platform for any side. Makes me ill.

I agree with you, using any tragedy this way is wrong. Let the dead rest peacefully using there tragedy this way is disrespectful.

M. Ghandi quote, "My religion is kindness".

To offer comfort from one owns perspective is different from being opportunistic in trying to convert others.

Religion sometimes misses the point of spirituality and behaves in predatory ways against other human beings.

Sad. Sometimes it even further traumatises those who have already been victimised.

It is doubtful the fundamentalist will listen to your point. It seems against their religious culture.

Thanks Markyyy for posting this.

It is incredulous that anyone would even attempt to use such a horrendous tragedy to further their own cause in any way.

I felt like posting this as well. I've been responding to people who are exploiting this tragedy as a means to evangelize or "pick on atheists". I didn't realize people could be so..... petty. I probably should have.

Anyway... Thank you. I hope they get it out of their system here.
