Why on Sunday?

"Remember the Sabbath" is a commandment under the Law of Moses.

Jesus fulfilled the Old Law and established a New Covenant. Under the New Testament, no one can judge us based on Sabbath days. (Colossians 2:14, 16)

In the New Testament, Jesus rose from the dead on Sunday (Mark 16:1-2), the church was estableshed on Sunday (Acts 2 - the day of Pentecost was always on the first day of the week), the early church kept the Lord's Supper on Sunday (Acts 20:7), and they gave their offering on Sunday (1 Corinthians 16:1-2).

When we meet on Sunday, we are just following the New Testament example that was set for us!

Isaiah 1:13 - God begins to reveal His displeasure with the Sabbath.

Matt. 28:1; Mark 16:2,9; John 20:1,19- the Gospel writers purposely reveal Jesus' resurrection and appearances were on Sunday. This is because Sunday had now become the most important day in the life of the Church.

Acts 20:7 - this text shows the apostolic tradition of gathering together to celebrate the Eucharist on Sunday, the "first day of the week." Luke documents the principle worship was on Sunday because this was one of the departures from the Jewish form of worship.

1 Cor. 16:2 - Paul instructs the Corinthians to make contributions to the churches "on the first day of the week," which is Sunday. This is because the primary day of Christian worship is Sunday.

Col. 2:16-17 - Paul teaches that the Sabbath was only a shadow of what was fulfilled in Christ, and says "let no one pass judgment any more over a Sabbath."

2 Thess. 2:15 - we are to hold fast to apostolic tradition, whether it is oral or written. The 2,000 year-old tradition of the Church is that the apostles changed the Sabbath day of worship from Saturday to Sunday.

Heb. 4:8-9 - regarding the day of rest, if Joshua had given rest, God would not later speak of "another day," which is Sunday, the new Sabbath. Sunday is the first day of the week and the first day of the new creation brought about by our Lord's resurrection, which was on Sunday.

Heb. 7:12 - when there is a change in the priesthood, there is a change in the law as well. Because we have a new Priest and a new sacrifice, we also have a new day of worship, which is Sunday.

Rev 1:10 - John specifically points out that he witnesses the heavenly Eucharistic liturgy on Sunday, the Lord's day, the new day of rest in Christ.

Matt. 16:19; 18:18 - whatever the Church binds on earth is bound in heaven. Since the resurrection, Mass has been principally celebrated on Sunday.

I do.
Saturday is the true Sabbath day; Sunday is the pagan day of worship that the Catholic Church adopted in 345 AD at the Council of Laodicea. They admit that they were the ones who changed the day of worship, something for which they had no scriptural authority whatsoever. You can look in the Bible from Genesis to Revelation and you won't find a single command from Christ or anyone authorizing Sunday worship. The Catholic Church passed this tradition down to the Protestants, and today most Christian churches worship on Sunday, and they don't even know why. When you try to ask them, they avoid the subject. Those who do answer will give conflicting reasons.
Everyone in the Bible from Adam to John the Revelator, including Christ Himself and all his NT apostles, worshipped on the 7th-Day sabbath. Even the gentiles that they baptized worshipped on that day! All the early Christians did until the Catholic Church took over in the mid 4th century.
I choose to follow scripture and not the traditions of Man.

becoz we would much rather follow human laws and traditions. the sabbath was made for man then why does man try to change it. we did not make it. god rose on sunday, that is true. but didn't he say that he would work for three and a half days(mathew) and thaen his work shall cease? his work ceased on friday evening he rested on saturday and rose on sunday to become our high priest, to begin working again. the books of the new testament were written after the death of JC yet they still refer to saturday as the sabbath. issahia said that we shall celebrate the sabbath in heaven. no where in the bible does it say that the sabbath was changed. only from human lips.

Because we don't worship a "day of the week".

Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

Col 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Christ became our Sabbath, our Atonement, our blood sacrifice the lamb, slain for all time.

That's all the doing of Constantine and the Council of Nicea. Since christians believe that jesus rose on Sunday, they thought they'd move the sabbath to that day for rememberance.

You're supposed to keep the Sabbath day holy by literally doing NOTHING. A while back the Puritans who settled in America would chain people up if they cooked, cleaned, or carried anything.

The Sabbath day isn't really a particular day. It is to the Jews because it is their tradition but all the bible really says is that we need to set aside one day a week to honor God and rest. Just as he did on the last day of creation.
