I believe if there is a God, then what God wants from us isn't our submission or our surrender. Only a powerless deity would want that.

All these people who think everyone else is bound for hell because they didn't take a bath or they don't go to the right church or they didn't get born in the right place or at the right time so they could hear about Jesus. Even babies. Just because Adam and Eve ripped off a bit of fruit. Why should we suffer because of Adam and Eve, who probably didn't exist anyway? The law doesn't punish people for someone else's crimes. Why would God? These people believe that God is going to let everyone burn (for ever) who doesn't believe in Jesus, even if they never got a chance to hear about him. How could they be happy in heaven if their parents were burning for ever in hell? It seems to me that these people are really self-righteous and judgmental and that Jesus wouldn't have any time for them. In fact if he came back he'd probably get crucified again, because he probably wouldn't be what they expected and he would certainly be against the Iraq war imho.

when everywhere they look it is competition from one religion to the other as for who has more followers and who is right and who is not right. why can we not focus on the fact that we give more attention to religion then we do to god, and maybe start understanding that if you are a muslim god will accept you, if you are jew god will accept you, if you are a christian god will accept you...based on YOUUUUU!!! NOT YOUR RELIGION!!

i think god would want us to worry more about ourselves and not so much about others...including religion.

Usually Europeans despise "coloured" people, but
evangelical Europeans are bent upon imposing their
faith on (non-christian) non-Europeans. They say that
it is the "white man's burden" to save the "coloured"
people. How do they know that they(European
evangelicals) have been "saved" and that the
non-christians will be "saved" if the latter convert
to christianity? Obviously evangelicals do not have
any "extra sensory perception". They are not
clairvoyants. They are like any other ordinary person.
How do they know that Jesus Christ is "the only true
God", that those who accept him will live in "eternal
heaven" and those who reject him will have to face
"eternal damnation" ? Is this not both superstition
and fanaticism? Why should there be only one religion
in the whole world? What if there are several
religions? Is not evangelism another form of European(
and American) hegemony, colonialism, domination and imperialism?

I've seen this excuse several times. God wanting you to kill someone for working on the sabbath is because he loves you as a parent loves their child and parents have to lay down rules because of that love.

Hey guys, I've got three kids that I love very much. They have rules, but that doesn't include having them killed for not cleaning their room. In fact I have never had and never will have, cause to hit, spank or strike my children in anyway.

If God's gotta have his children killed for working on the sabbath, doesn't that make him a lousy parent?

why is it that the more educated people become and when they start thinking for themselves they wean themselves off religion? Today we have more than enough evidence to believe that we humans evolved and were by no means created at a specific time in history by some god.

There is another group of people who are dumb and desperatly want to hold on to their fast dying religions. These people become more and more radical because they think that by been radical they can bring back to life the corpse they call religion.

i was told by someone of the Sikh faith to repeat these words as a protection chant in the mornings. unfortunately he was not able to properly translate what the phrase meant. I'm curious about the words... hoping i do not chant a curse instead of a prayer. thanks.

If God doesn't send us to hell, then why fear him?

I mean, shouldn't the expression really say "he's a good satan fearing man" if God innocently had nothing to do with sending bad boys to hell?

We also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. Romans 5:3-4

Our lives are much the same. Working through difficulties often brings out the real beauty in a person. Whether it is clouds or trials, God can use something that we usually think of as negative to produce awesome results.
The Bible teaches us not to shrink from the troubles that come to us because of our faith. Rather, we are to be thankful for them and even to rejoice in them.
Some of God's most beautiful masterpieces are created when there are clouds.

Love ~!~ Peace to you all today and everyday!

I do not have a denomination or a congregation to belong to. I am not opposed to it, but as a Christian, I wonder why others feel as I do?
Why do you feel that you don't have a congregation?
What advantages do you feel, being a Christian in a relationship with Christ, offer that organized religion doesn't have?
If you found a church, that seems to teach many truths from the Bible, would you actually join, or would you just attend?

It's right there in Exodus 31:15.

It's unambiguous and black & white.

If you're made of love do you really want to have people killed for working instead of worshipping you once a week?
