Psychosis is often illustrated by the following: "A psychotic individual builds castles in the sky and then he moves into them."

One who suffers psycotic episodes is prone to emotionally driven confusion between reality and fantasy - he is often plagued by hallusonation of images, voices, aromas and the like.

Is it far fetched to draw a parallel between psychotic illness and a "normal" individual's belief in unseen, unknown and immagined beings and worlds, i.e., is belief in such things as those which are claimed as "real" by individuals of faith not similar to the beliefs of the psychitic who "builds castles in the sky.... and then moves into them"?

I did. They are Christian but they kind of pretended it wasn't happening. I think they hoped it was a phase. I'm still in the phase.

I'm asking this here because this is one of the rooms I frequent, and it contains some of the most interesting names!

For the sake of compliance, be sure to mention if there are any religious or spiritual connotations. And what the heck, throw in the reason for your choice of avator too. It's a twofer.

In Mark 16:17-18, Jesus says:

"And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."

Thus, according to Jesus, if believers drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all.

This would be a good way for Christians to convince doubters to accept Jesus. They could win a lot of converts by demonstrating their immunity to the deadly poison. Why don't they do so?

I'm going to be a missionary and I was checking out the countries I could go to and found out about "Limited Access" or "Creative Access" countries. I found that in order to get into these countries you have to have a degree in either education or medical.

Does anyone know more about this?

What do they believe? Give me info on the following:
Hell

Death

Marriage
Heaven
The Trinity
etc, etc...

I know what I believe and can defend it, so I am not asking what other people believe, but what the Mormons believe. Thanks!

The Shi'ite Muslims have the Mahdi, ancient Hebrews awaited the Meshach (Messiah), today's Dispensationalist Christians have the Rapture and Christ's kingdom, the Cargo Cult Polynesians await the return of airplanes bringing them gifts. What other religions hold to the expectation that some powerful personage from afar will come to them with gifts?

While in college I was a religion major. There was a great deal of study in many different religions as well as thoughts that were not religious at all.

My question is ..... When you read the holy book (which ever one you choose) how do you get it's meaning for your person in this day and time?

Most holy books were written hundreds, if not thousands of years ago, to people who did not think as we do today. How do you translate the meaning they must have gleaned into today's meanings? ...... Or .... is that even possible?

Man shall not be denied woman, so Jesus denied himself one as a man, huh! What's up with that. The contradictions from the Bible are too confusing to hold as True. What good does it do to convert to a belief system that can not prove its philosophy and only provides ignorance? If religion is to predominate the way you believe, why do you follow something so inconsistent? Only because it holds a Gun to your head and says "Believe or Burn"!

I mean it. Jesus loves everybody just the same without reservation unconditionally, even those who try to kill him or kill innocent people or destroy the world.

He loves Osama bin Laden as much as he does the Virgin Mary/the 12 disciples/the Pope. He even forgave Osama bin Laden and sacrificed his own life to wash away the sin of Osama bin Laden.
-Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." (Luke 23:34)
-This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. (Matthew 26:28)

So if Christians really decide to follow and imitate Christ they gotta love Osama bin Laden as much as they do their spouse/child(ren).
- Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ. (1 Corinthians 11:1)

If Osama bin Laden isn't your best choice you may think of like... Charles Manson, etc.

Whenever I ask a religious person about homosexual marriage I am told that God frowns upon it because two people of the same sex cannot procreate. If procreation is what makes marriage sacred what does an infertile person do? Is God ok with infertile people getting married?

Would somebody please explain this to me?

Is it because whatever they believe doesn’t define good moral values and protection like Christianity. Is it plain jealousy that we have good moral values? Has Christianity done something wrong to them? Are they all offended by the fact that majority of the world believe in Christ? , Is it a bad childhood experience? Is it plain stupidity or any other reason... Please define.
God bless you!

Yes it is.....in Creation.

The proof for God is all around us in creation.
I watched a program last night on this thing called a "cuttlefish"

What an amazing creation this thing is. It's a fish that can change color and shape depending on it's surroundings. It puts the camellion to shame with it's hypnotic-like color changing technique.

There is absolutely no way that this creature created itself through evolution.......this had to be God because it's brilliant.

The proof truly is in the pudding.....not the primordial soup, but creation.

Your thoughts?
