Not only does He not lie, He is incapable of lying.
The bible idenfifies Satan as the "Father of all lies".
I cannot believe all the people who are willing to jump to the illogical conclusion that God lies, based upon His giving someone over to a lying spirit so they can be deceived. That is not God lying to them. That is YOU denying and denying God and doing what is wrong in His eyes time and time again until He basically pulls his hand of protection away from you and allows you to have the desires of YOUR selfish heart. THAT is real love! He will not force you, ultimately, to do what is right. He loves you so much that if you insist on having it your way and repeatedly tell Him you want nothing to do with Him or His righteousness, He will eventually remove His protection from you and allow you to be fully deveived by the "Father of all lies". That's NOT what He wants for you, but He loves you so much that He will allow you to make the decision for yourself and He will honor your decision for ETERNITY.
God loves you and so do I.

Check this out:

Thou art that God, and thy words be true.
Titus 1:2
In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began.
Hebrews 6:18
It was impossible for God to lie.
Then there is Yes, God lies by proxy; He sends prophets or lying spirits to deceive.
1 Kings 22:23
Now, therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee.
2 Chronicles 18:22
Now therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets.

Maybe you should ask - Does the Bible matter? The doctrines of Christianity are entrusted to the church, not a book. If you cannot find God through your personal experience and your participation in the community, the *ecclesia*, set up by Christ himself, why do you think you should seek him in the words of a book?

Yes. The bible says god isn't the author of confusion but didn't he confuse people at the tower of Babel? That would make him a liar.

That's right waht Yasd said, God couldn't lie even if he wanted too. That would be a sin and since he is sinless that could not happen.

No, God does not lie because he is not a man that he should lie. When God says what he will do, he will do it.
