I did as a child, since I was still a Christian then, but I still bow my head now, simply out of respect. Im not actually praying of course, but the dinner table at my parent's house is not the place to make some kind of statement by refusing to do so.

I didn't realize that I was an atheist until I left home. I knew I didn't believe in God, but I thought I was "possessed by the devil", and was afraid to tell anyone.
I'm being completely serious.
I go to dinner with a neighbor a few times a month. She prays before every meal, and knows that I'm an atheist. I respect her enough to stay silent while she does so.

No that would be silly. And when I am with Christians if asked to say grace I will comply. There is no point in causing an awkward situation about a prayer that don't mean anything. Saying a prayer don't make a fantasy real. I even tell kids fairy tales about the twinkle people sometimes.

No, because I don't pray. If someone says a prayer, I tolerate them doing it, but don't really pay attention since it really infuriates me to be subject to others' beliefs. But I am a nice guy so I don't make a scene. Most people think I am a very religious person since I am very moral and nice and considerate.

We never prayed at the dinner table. If we were at a relatives house or something and they prayed, I would bow my head and be silent out of respect for them, but I never prayed.

I don't remember my Parents Praying at the Table; At others Tables, Visits to family, they did. They Forced me to go to Sunday School....
I respect people who sincerely mean the prayers at tables I visit; But Its neither here nor there for me....

Before converting, I usually just pretended I was participating.
Then I actually practiced their religion for a time.
Now I just let religious people do their thing and my head is up and my eyes are open.
Occasionally I wince when they say something truly ridiculous.

Thank "god" I never had to do that. My grandparents were Atheists too, just like me.
They were happy, lived into their late 80s and left a large estate which I now enjoy. They were realtors in Los Angeles.
I am getting along nicely, at age 59, WITHOUT any gods.

Well I told mine that I didn't want to go to church around 13-14. They also tried to ignore it. It has really been a don't ask don't tell thing for 30 years. I figure they must know, but don't really want to know. It is funny you said that.
