how do you excommunicate an atheist? do you force him to believe in a deity?
atheism is the natural state of being for humanity, it takes effort, will and faith to maintain theism.
trying to deny that certain people like Stalin or Pol Pot were publicly declared atheists (I don't know what their actual personal beliefs were) is like trying to deny that they had eyes because it would make us too similar to them.
morally and ethical bad people sometimes do not believe in a deity. it's true. we'll leave revisionist denials to the religious folks, though.

I won't comment as i am not an atheist but i must admit that i admire anyone that realizes that intolerance and hatred are as universal as mutual respect and love for humanity and that none of these qualities are restricted by ideological boundaries.

You can't excommunicate an atheist. They have never "communicated" in the first place!

Cheney. He's either an atheist or insane based on how confident he seems he won't go to Hell. And he's just too consistent to be insane.
